A great local chain.y wife & I had a croissant & a chanson with apple (kind of an apple danish) with cafe au lait. It was very tasty. The apple was more apple sauce & the croissant could have been butterier but still good. The cafe au lait was the star though. Nicely creamy & served at a good drinking temperature. More cafes should learn from that to help with turn over. Atmosphere was good but hard not to be in the center of vieux Quebec. It was crowded at 9:30 am but that was to be expected & turn over was good.
The perfect way to start your day in Quebec City! Every morning our family would start our day by stopping by Cafe La Maison Smith for a coffee or latte & a pastry. We would sit in the beautiful courtyard & plan our day. Everything we tried was wonderful (coffees, lattes, croissants, macarons). Wonderful memories! Thank you!

A refreshing break & service. Our food & coffee order were great. The choco croissant was excellent! Since we were traveling & the apartment didn't have coffee, I decided to buy some here. They recommended & ground the beans, & even threw in a couple of filters for the drip maker. What a kindness for a traveler. We will stop back, for sure.

I visited this place twice. On my first trip, I went late in the afternoon, & it was surprisingly quiet. I was hoping to find something sweet, but most of the desserts were already gone, so I didn't get anything. The last four pictures & video are from my first visit.
I returned the next day for breakfast. As I expected, it was quite busy. So, be ready for that! There are limited indoor & outdoor seating options. I got the cinnamon roll & an almond croissant, & both were delicious.

Les viennoiseries étaient sèches & manquaient clairement de fraîcheur. En tant que Français habitué aux boulangeries où les produits sont préparés du jour, cela m'a surpris. J'aurais préféré que l'on m'indique qu'ils n'étaient pas frais plutôt que de me les vendre comme tels. Dommage, car le café était agréable.
Stopped by this Café in downtown Quebec after hearing a lot of recommendations, so expectations were fairly high. The café itself has a nice atmosphere & good location, but honestly the food & coffee experience felt pretty average to me.
Tried the croissants & they were okay, but nothing particularly memorable or different from what you can find at many other cafés. Same with the coffee decent enough, but it didn't really stand out in flavor or quality considering the hype around the place.
Not a bad experience overall, just not something that personally lived up to the expectations.
Perfect place for croissants & coffee in the morning, friendly staff, good coffee in the middle of Quebec City, plus they are open early, which I, as a an early tourist appreciate very much.
