One of the most gastronomic experience ever in the old port, old Quebec, the service was spectacular & each dish from the'experience' unknown menu was out of this world! Our favourite experience in our 5 days in Quebec. We received a tour of the place & kitchen to express our gratitude & met the Chefs & Sous-Chefs, they exceeded our expectations & we had to meet them. Just WOW, WOW, WOW. The atmosphere is ambient, classy but relaxed, surrounded by vintage artifacts & wood. Just superb through & though!
Thank you for a wonderful night out, with my colleague, on the night of the Jays/Dodgers final game-November 1/25...we were the last diners in the restaurant at 10pm on a Saturday night--so many people were in bars watching the World Series final game--so we had the place to ourselves at the end--amazing! Our waiter, Gregoire, was very attentive & the Chef's creations & presentations were superb. The atmosphere is completely charming & reminds me, at the entryway, of my French-Canadian grandmother's house, filled with vintage photos & comfy furnishings. As neighbours visiting from Ontario, we were self-conscious about our own French language skills, but felt very welcome here. Gregoire took us through the menu in detail (with an English version, of course-- & he demonstrated for us his love of local food, the marriage of flavours to expect in a dish & to describe the wine-pairing--with sincerity). We were not disappointed! The food is excellent here. To any anglophone tourists, please don't miss this place--it is very special & you will have a memorable dining experience here. Thank you for a perfect evening!

We took an Uber from the ship. We easily & safely walked back to the ship. Next time we would walk both ways. Our server was Jade & she did a great job explaining the menu options. We weren't bold enough to try the chef's choice, 5 course offering, with wine pairings. The menu has an English version for those of us that don't read or speak French. We split the cheese tray as a starter. Very fresh strawberries & blueberries with different cheeses, with some very nice focaccia. The risotto dish & the haddock were both excellent. We were stuffed, so we passed on the wonderful desserts. The meal was very reasonably paced. We were quite early to fit that day's schedule & within an hour the place was full. Reservations encouraged. Prices are in Canadian on the menu & very reasonable.
Magnificent!
As a party of three we tried a variety of the a la carte meals & one order of the Chef's Special dinner.
Everything was wonderful from the moment we entered the restaurant. The food was fresh, expertly prepared with artistic presentations, & delicious! The staff is delightful & extremely knowledgeable about the ingredients & preparation for each dish. Our entire experience was fabulous. We will be back!
I visited Chez Rioux & Pettigrew with high expectations, drawn by its Michelin recommendation. The food was absolutely delicious - every dish was beautifully prepared & full of flavor. However, the overall experience was disappointing due to the unacceptable wait time. I regret ordering the 4 course tasting menu that cost us CAD220+.
We were seated at 6:00 PM & ordered the 4-course tasting menu with an extra oyster. We didn't receive the main course until 8:22 PM - more than 2 hours later. The whole experience lasted almost 2 hours & 45 minutes for a 4 courses only menu. During that time, we watched multiple tables around us who ordered the regular evening menu finish their meals & leave.
As someone who works in luxury hospitality organizations & travel extensively. I've never seen a 4-course menu take this long. Timing is part of the guest experience, & this felt excessive.
Our server was friendly & proactive, offering wine & bread during the wait & even removing charges for our cocktail & bread roll - which I appreciated. However, when I voiced my concern, his response was,'It's not my fault,' which didn't feel very professional.
Worst of all, I ended the night with a severe stomach ache due to the long delay. I had to stop at a gas station for medicine & a sandwich on the way to my hotel - a sad ending to what should've been a memorable culinary night.
The chef's work is truly impressive, but it's a shame we couldn't enjoy it in comfort due to poor pacing. I hope the team reconsiders the timing & flow of the tasting menu service.
Outstanding in presentation,, flavours, service, vibe, & French-styled portion sizes. Will return assp! Four course Chef Surprise was fantastic in every way. Our chief server, Frank, was so helpful both times we ate here. Thanks, Frank!
