We had great expectations, & the kitchen delivered.....eventually. This restaurant could be great. Could be. But is not currently. Stay away until they get their act together. The pluses: The bread is amazing, the food was delicious, the ambience convivial. But..... The service: From the start things got off to the wrong foot. We asked for two flutes of champagne & were served about 5 tablespoons of stale champagne...meager & begrudging --& stale--servings. What We decided to go straight to a bottle of white wine to avoid whatever nonsense was going on with the laughable pour. We immediately surmised some consultant had come in to provide profit margin suggestions. Never good news for diners. The logistics: the general manager here deserves a rating of "huge epic fail". While we waited.....& waited.....& waited...trays of food were being hustled out to a private party.... at the expense of the restaurant clientele. We had a look....was it really worth it to ignore & subjugate your core restaurant clientele for 15 (15 ! Yes, I counted) millennials in beanies, striped shirts & sporting questionable facial hair fashions? So short sighted. The general manager should think about another career. The staff is good, the food is good, the decor is good. The logistics are horrible. We'll be telling everyone to stay away until they get their priorities straight. & yes, they comped us a delicious carpaccio (highly recommended) & tried to comp us bread. But really! Really. You can do better.

Loved our "blind" meal here. The chef truly understands flavours & they all complemented each other wonderfully. Highly recommend.

First time at this restaurant. We enjoyed the seasonal blind tasting menu. Delicious & beautifully plated. The staff was very knowledgeable about the food, the wine, the cocktails. Very attentive. A wonderful experience, & we highly recommend the restaurant & Chef Dominic's creations.

I enjoyed every second of our dinner at Chez Rioux & Pettigrew. We decided to do the chef's inspiration menu option - where courses are chosen for you. No regrets, everything was exceptional from the first course to dessert. I also really enjoyed the staff who knew about the food & history of the restaurant. The staff also gave me tips in speaking French :) highly recommend.

I wish I could give TEN stars.
From the moment we walked in & were guided to our table through the kitchen, this experience was first-rate. William was our server, & we chose the R&P experience, which was such an adventure & so exciting. We felt well cared-for, & the timing of the dishes was perfect.
From the leeks & apples to the ramen to the duck with carrots three ways to the walnut dessert (& the one with Quebec strawberries for my wife), we could sense the excitement & love that the kitchen & servers had for the Experience, which transferred to us as we enjoyed each surprise course. It's clear that the chef & kitchen brigade are fiercely proud of the locally-sourced ingredients, the conceiving & execution of the dishes, & the exquisite presentation. The fresh carrot foam? Gorgeous. The mustard espuma? Unctuous & luscious.
The dessert could have had a dusting of cocoa to finish it, but you chose sumac, which we immediately detected; the sourness added a citric accent to the black walnut pastry cream. The small plate of chocolate fudgy brownies with blackberry was so beautiful we had the taste in our mouths for the whole walk back to the hotel.
Thank you for making this dinner so special & for allowing us to enjoy this meal without feeling rushed. We will highly recommend R&P to visitors to Quebec City & will make reservations again next time we are in the city.
Every little detail, every decision you are making in the kitchen & out on the floor made a difference.

My second time in within 30 days. First tome around, I never got to give a rating. We had dinner with friends from the States. A group of eight, so we were seated in the back room. To get to the backroom, you must go through the restaurant's kitchen. Totally chill
The food experience is totally local & super tasty. The staff is super well versed in their offerings from food to wine & spirits. I highly recommend R&P who loves to discove

We had the 4 course menu & wine pairing & it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The best meal & dining experience we have had. From the service to the food was a wonderful journey. Would highly recommend this restaurant .

Came to Chez R&P for dinner with the girls during our stay in QC. We ordered the surprise 4-course prefixe, it was so lovely. We allowed for the chef to make beautiful creations that tickled the tastebud, each creation was unique & delicious! I highly recommend this modern yet classic twist on French cuisine!

The portions were the smallest I have ever seen... even for a small plates restaurant. Seriously... one piece of lamb the size of a Susan B. Anthony Coin for $30!!! I the portions were so small that they resembled doll food portions. However, had the food tasted amazing then perhaps I would have been able to overlook the minuscule size of the portions. Unfortunately, it was not. It was mediocre at best. I adore fois gars having lived in France previously. I order it whenever I find it on the menu. This was such a disappointment... it had no flavor whatsoever & came with burnt toast as well. The pasta was good... nothing outstanding, but good. The restaurant came highly recommended & I was so looking forward to an excellent meal & culinary experience. I was incredibly disappointed. The service was excellent but other than that there is nothing that would bring me back or recommend the restaurant to anyone else.
