We tried the tasting menu for dinner & the food was a little disappointing. My partner & I had pretty bad diarrhea after our dinner so the food was prob not well prepared. The tasting menu has 4 courses - cold appetizer, hot appetizer, main & dessert. The main was seared venison which I thought was too tough to chew. The dessert was prob the best dish. Overall, felt the food wasn't worth the hype. Service was really good though. The staff was attentive & gave us a good explanation of the wine pairing.

Honest dishes well executed. Booked by chance at the last minute as was not at all disappointed. Easy to fall into a tourist trap when dining in Quebec City, this was not the case. Hospitality was equally well conducted, light & jovial. Merci à notre serveur Simon. We will come again. I recommend you go for the tasting menu, we were stuffed by the end.

We wanted to have one tasting menu & one regular order & were told right away we could not have a mixed service. That should be made clear in the menu that the whole table must to the tasting. Otherwise Simon, our server, was fantastic as was everyone else who came to our table. The oysters were amazing with their frothy mignionette!

Came here at the last night of our long weekend visiting the city to celebrate an anniversary, left immensely satisfied! We did the 4 course tasting menu & were delighted to both try foods we had never eaten before & be pleasantly surprised when some dishes included foods we already know we love. I enjoyed how each dish at least tonight had one ingredient in common between them which tied things together. The portions were perfect, staff all very welcoming & friendly, timing between dishes was just right. Very warm atmosphere. Could not say enough good things about this restaurant.

Exceptional experience! Coming from Montreal I often have high expectations when eating out. This checked off all the boxes! Tucked away in old Quebec, super cozy & quaint, we had a wonderful waitress accompanied by delicious culinary experience from start to finish. We had a hard time deciding what to eat but finally went with the tasting menu... & we were in no way disappointed. Unfortunately I couldn't do the wine pairing because I'm pregnant but I'm sure it would have been exceptional as well. Would highly recommend ❤️

We got the tasting menu & my wife opted for the vegetarian option of the menu. Overall, the meat options I got were really nice & I enjoyed them all. We noticed that the vegetarian options provided to her seemed a bit of an afterthought compared to the meat options. The tofu dish she received was quite substandard.
Also, after our third course was over & the dishes were taken away, a spider descended down from the ceiling & was about to land on my wife's head. We managed to get it out of the way before it could do that. Thankfully, there was no food around or else it would have been even worse. This did not leave a good impression on us as you can imagine.
However, we did really love the restaurant & its vibe. We might even come back some time in the future. Just hope you fix the issues we mentioned.

Absolutely loved our dinner at Chez Rioux - our favorite meal in Quebec City. Cozy, warm, welcoming atmosphere. Lovely space - including walking through the kitchen (something I have never experienced before but an amazing & unique touch). We had the tasting menu, which was fabulous & absolutely worth it! Inventive & classic at the same time, incredibly delicious (my favorite part was a butternut squash gnocci!). Service was excellent (recommended a wonderful bottle of wine to go with the meal as well as provided warm & welcoming service throughout the night). One of my favorite meals I have had this year & would absolutely go back if we find ourselves in Quebec City!

Charming restaurant. Ordered the secret tasting menu. Everything was great except for the foie gras & duck confit. The service is terribly slow across the board. The wine pairing was great & complimented the dishes really well.

Benoit was fabulous! His knowledge of the wine pairing with our blind tasting menu was exceptional.
Informal but engaging nonetheless , we enjoyed every bite, every sip.
We will be back 100%
