AFFAMÉS D’HISTOIRE?

Le 160, rue Saint-Paul s’est toujours avéré un lieu où les ingrédients et le service de qualité supérieurs font la loi. Fondé en 1860 par Narcisse Rioux, le magasin général Chez Rioux & Pettigrew fournissait aux restaurateurs, aux épiciers, aux hôpitaux et aux communautés religieuses une grande variété de produits locaux ou d’importation.

Barils de mélasse, poches de farine, sucre, gruau, fruits et légumes en conserves, épices, noix, raisins secs, chocolat, bonbons présentés sur des étalages… On y trouvait même de l’alcool jusqu’à la création de la Commission des liqueurs en 1921!

Plusieurs reliques empruntées à cette époque ont trouvé leur place dans notre décor actuel. Vous souhaitez vivre l’immersion signée Rioux & Pettigrew?

I sat at the bar & opted for the tasting menu without the wine pairings. The food was delicious, but what absolutely made my night was my very knowledgeable & gracious bartender. Honestly, his old fashioned stole the show from my first course. & the drinks just kept on getting better & better. My favorite course was the turbot - delicate & fresh, the rhubarb broth was lovely. Thank you to my approachable server/mixologist extraordinaire who introduced me to a whole other world of cocktails. (Who knew: me & sherry?!?) Definitely include this establishment on your must try list for Quebec City.

We were a party of four & ordered the three course anniversary pre fix menu. The first course was seared tuna, which was excellent & the second course was poached halibut, which ended up being Turbot. We pointed this out to the waiter, & he admitted that the menu was written incorrectly, & that it was indeed turbot. We found it mushy & fishy tasting. Two people in our party didn't eat the fish yet management only offered to replace it with the surf & turf, which was black pudding & shrimp. The service was attentive & the atmosphere is really cool & interesting.

Our second night in Quebec City we had dinner Chez Rioux & Pettigrew. We both did the tasting menu which included an appetizer, main course & dessert. .For a 10 dollar charge my husband added a second appetizer. Every course was presented & explained to us which was delightful. The food was excellent as was the service !

Wonderful, fresh flavors. We had their special 10 year anniversary tasting menu with wine pairing. Good service & nice ambience.

Truly one of the best restaurant experiences we've had.From the well organized & professional service to the exceptional food. Bertrand was a fantastic server & knew his stuff when it came to the food & wine. He kept the water glasses full without ever being overbearing. We had the 4 course tasting menu & every single dish was spot on.
Loved the atmosphere & decor as well. Would highly recommend.

We had the dégustation menu 4 services with wine pairings. Food:WOW!!! What an unbelievable experience. Wine: all private imports & great pairings. The cab from cement VAT was so totally different & tasting the real grapes, that in itself was worth it. Let's do it again soon.

Absolutely delightful. Sat at the bar & had the amazing tasting menu. Alexis couldn't have been more informative & welcoming. Great experience & we will absolutely be back.
