First the good. Chez Temporel is a French bistro in Quebec City. That may seem like an obvious statement but it is really true here. The service is aloof, professional but not rude. The atmosphere is one of rushed relaxation, where spending an hour over lunch is expected. We dined on the first floor with the windows open & cramped as much as any bistro in Paris. This may sound negative but I do urge you to go & see for yourself. Some people will hate it others will love it.

For the food, my wife & I split a boule of soupe de l'oignon & a salade de canard confit. Both were good but small things threw us off. It did not make it bad but just not quite perfect. For instance, the soupe had what seemed to be cheese curds melted on top. Please note, the cheese wasn't but it just had that squeak of cheese curds & the oh so faint taste. The salade was good but had tooth cracking seeds in it so you had to be careful. Now, quality was with out a doubt very high. These are preferences & other folks may find it much more enjoyable than we did.

In the end, I do thinks Chaz Temporel is worth going off the beaten track to find & evaluate for yourself.

Must visit! We went here for lunch on a weekday after a long hike up & down the Montmercy falls.

We were seated next to a window (what a wonderful table!) & were served by Flora May. She was an exceptionally sweet, polite & frank server - didn't oversell, kept it real & all with a smiling face.

We had their French onion soup & Snails along with their house wine. The portions were good & the taste was just wow! It kept lingering. Had a nice French experience. Definitely recommend if you're around.

Fabulous restaurant not far from the main street.
Staff are attentive & friendly & happy to chat (despite how busy & popular the place is) & help with choices.
We both had French Onion Soup to start - a huge portion & incredibly tasty! We then had bavette & confit duck salad - again fabulous.
If you have room for dessert try the maple syrup pie - delicious!!
Totally recommend this exceptional find!

Lors de notre visite du vieux Québec, nous sommes arrêtés pour le repas du midi, très belle accueille avec le sourire du personnel, nous avons été servis rapidement & en plus le repas était de qualité, je conseille ce restaurant

Wonderful little gem, just enough off the main drag to feel like a local favorite. Food was authentic & fresh & very well prepared. Simple but lovely presentation. Delicious & reasonably priced for the area.

Nous avons malgré tout bien mangé & les plats étaient bons. En revanche, l'accueil & l'attitude du personnel laissent à désirer. Le personnel était peu aimable &, après seulement 1h15 passées sur place, nous avons commencé à ressentir des regards insistants & oppressants, comme si nous étions invités à quitter notre table. Finalement, on nous a clairement fait comprendre qu'il était temps de partir. C'est dommage, car la qualité de la nourriture était au rendez-vous, mais l'expérience globale a été gâchée par l'accueil & le sentiment de ne pas être les bienvenus.

We ABSOLUTELY loved our meal & relaxing experience. The Eggs Benedict with Bacon was spot on & our Croqette Monsieur exceeded our expectations. The staff was inviting & friendly. Enjoy!
