Fantastic meals , wine & great service. We had the salmon & French onion soup & they both were fantastic. We tried a local white wine & were impressed. Highly recommend.
The food was incredible I highly recommend the mustard chicken. The quaint space & wonderful atmosphere culminated into creating an amazing experience.
We spent a few days in the Old Quebec City & decided to re-visit this local restaurant as we had been here 3 years ago & absolutely loved everything about it.
Three years ago it was highly recommended by a local tour guide that we randomly met on Rue St Jean. He told us then that if we are looking for authentic French cuisine food, Chez Temporel was the place to be.
As in 2022, we had a great experience & the food was absolutely to divine.
We had the Artichoke & Spinach Dip as an appetizer & it was amazing. So much different from all the other places we've had it before, with a completely different texture & with the warm toasted croutons, it was so delicious.
We continued with the Fishermen's Pie, one of the most delicious dishes I ever had. Complemented by a fresh salad with a great'zing' added by Ginger, it was absolutely sublime. The total French atmosphere was amazing as well.
So, if you really want to taste the difference & are looking for authentic French cuisine, take the few extra steps from the main strip in the Old Quebec City & enjoy this quaint restaurant. No wonder they've been in business for almost 50 years. Great food & atmosphere!
Such a hidden gem - just tucked away off the main street & absolutely worth it! This cozy little restaurant recently celebrated 50 years, & it's easy to see why it's stood the test of time. The menu is small, but everything is done perfectly. The service is so warm & unpretentious - we dined in with our toddler & baby & felt completely at ease. For dinner, we loved the French onion soup & fisherman's pie, & our toddler couldn't get enough of his grilled cheese. We came back for brunch & really enjoyed the homemade hot chocolate, croque madame, & classic egg benedict. Highly recommend!
We stayed at an AirBnB down the street & found this fantastic cafe! We ended up eating there 3 days in a row. I was traveling with my mom & my 2 kids (aged 13 & 10). All of us were big fans of different things! The service was wonderful! The owner is there from time to time but all of his staff are beyond welcoming. The atmosphere is perfect with open windows & exposed brick walls & stained glass- it's cozy. Highly recommend to anyone visiting or just looking for a hidden gem in their city.
Amazing service great food, highly recommend it to anyone!!!! Amazing atmosphere
Located in a small alley but still attracts many customers to visit. Foods are delicious, & cocktails are fantastic. Only 1 chef cooks for the all customers, so foods may come with a bit delay. It will be worth your time since evey dishes are well-cooked, flavoured & melted in mouth. Highly recommend Duck Caesar Salad.
Had the duck confit Caesar salad & it was amazing, some of the best duck I've had & the broccoli instead of the lettuce was a brilliant idea! We also had the maple syrup pie which was delicious, very subtle flavor with a delicate crust that we loved. Last but not least we had an onion soup that didn't disappoint & my wife had the scallops, overall a great experience including a very friendly service & a beautiful ambience. Highly recommend!

A delightful bistro with a comfortable feel, exquisite food & charming service.
Highly recommended.
What a delightful find & our top choice for dining during our weekend in Old Quebec! We had the pleasure of visiting twice, once for dinner & once for brunch, & sampled a total of 9 different items, all of which were delicious. Our favorites included the onion soup, squash soup, Caesar salad, & the remarkable key lime pie. Speaking of the key lime pie, it’s a hidden gem not featured on the menu & not available every day, but it’s a real treat, resembling crème brûlée with the perfect balance of sweetness.
Adding to the charm, the restaurant is nestled in an antique setting that provides a peaceful escape from the bustling main streets, avoiding the noise & crowds. The staff, while friendly, appeared to be a bit short-handed at times, resulting in occasional delays in service. Nevertheless, it was a great dining experience that we would highly recommend.
