Review Summary

L'Échaudé is widely regarded as a standout culinary destination in Old Quebec, celebrated for its authentic, high-quality French cuisine and sophisticated bistro atmosphere. Many guests praise the creative menu, highlighting dishes like duck confit, beef tartare, and fresh seafood as examples of the kitchen's precision and passion. While the dining experience is frequently described as memorable and professional, some visitors note that service can occasionally be affected by high volume, leading to slower pacing during busy periods. Overall, it remains a popular choice for those seeking a refined and atmospheric meal in a beautiful historic setting, with many patrons expressing a strong desire to return for future visits.

One of the best dinners ever. ( & I live in San Francisco). Imaginative, beautiful presentation, but most of all delicious. Rabbit saddle stuffed with smoked salmon, smoked trout with avocado cream & sprinkled with roe, divine dessert of financier with chocolate & small meringues. Excellent service, warm embracing ambiance. A must go for Quebec City.

Truly a charming bistro - but not your average bistro food or service. Alain (our waiter) was knowledgeable & funny adding a touch of French humor. Portions were creative & generous but don't skip the dessert. The mango tart with coconut ice cream & "snowflake" coconut tuille had us scraping the plate. A bit tricky to find but worth the effort.

Came for dinner. Very cute patio. Had tartare & deer tounge for apps, both were delicious. Main meal was mignon & duck confit, both were very delicious. Chocolate tarte for dessert - delicious & creme brûlée (a little too sweet). Service was great. Would recommend for a nice dinner.

The ambiance, food, selection was awesome! Both my husband & I were able to find something, since there was variety. Service was touch-&-go...took some time for the server to check in on drinks, refills, placing orders, getting the check. Yes, they were busy, but there was adequate staff. Even tables seated after us with the same waiter were done, out before us. Perhaps it's a cultural difference, but for 2 of us we were there well over 2 hours for dinner, 1 dessert. If you have lots of time & patience, I definitely recommend for the food!
