Review Summary

L'Échaudé is widely regarded as a standout culinary destination in Old Quebec, celebrated for its authentic, high-quality French cuisine and sophisticated bistro atmosphere. Many guests praise the creative menu, highlighting dishes like duck confit, beef tartare, and fresh seafood as examples of the kitchen's precision and passion. While the dining experience is frequently described as memorable and professional, some visitors note that service can occasionally be affected by high volume, leading to slower pacing during busy periods. Overall, it remains a popular choice for those seeking a refined and atmospheric meal in a beautiful historic setting, with many patrons expressing a strong desire to return for future visits.

The food was amazing. Duck confit was delicious. We had salmon tartare, veal filet, scallops. Warm goat cheese was excellent. Drinks & dessert were great. Only reason I am giving a 4 instead of a 5 is because my kids asked for flank steak to be cooked medium. It came out well done. But they just ate it bc they were hungry.

Superb! Un repas formidable! We enjoyed each course. The duck confit was the best I've had in years. My spouse had the blind tasting menu & loved it. I try not to give five stars in all categories - sorry! Can't help it here.

Woooooooow! Order the duck confit. They've been perfecting it for 40 years. The squash puree was over the top, the duck was tender, flavorful & delicious. Also ordered the sweet bread - tender, absolutely unique with the chimichurri flavor . Definitely a place worthy of Michelin Stars. Service was very attentive & professional. Thanks for a fantastic experience!

Quiet, cozy restaurant. It has a Michelin sign posted outside but not sure whether they got a star or an honorable mention. I can't say I would appreciate Michelin-star food, but will say I would return here again.
Our waiter was a pleasure to be served by. The menu suggests ordering 2-3 dishes from the menu per person, which made me think the dishes were more tapas-sized. However the waiter clarified which dishes were more consistent with mains vs appetitizer size vs somewhere in between.
We went with the Goat cheese (the star of the meal), Portobello mushroom stuffed with mushrooms & scallops that functioned like appetizers, & each got the Duck confit. By no means are we connoisseurs regarding Duck confit, but when compared to ones we've ordered in Toronto restaurants, the size of the duck leg was much larger. The taste was solid - with a hint of paprika (I think... could be wrong.. but something beyond ) that made it a bit unique tasting vs others I've had elsewhere.
The restaurant also had some more unique cocktails than the usual fare.
Would return for sure!

Popular place in Old Quebec City & supported by its local community. Varied menu with options for many palates. Appetizer / entrees are combined as one menu. Panacota, steak tartare & duck confit were definitely the highlights of the meal. Not crazy about the goat cheese & fois gras. Would definitely go back if in the area.

Food is on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for. Food is really delicious. Duck confit, fries & the pork are really good. Steak, duck breast & char are solid as well, just the others are better. The service is good too. Although a the food came slow, the servers & manager recognized this & gave us some veggies at no charges. Also a bit of dessert too. The staff are friendly & pleasant to deal with. Best meal we had in Quebec City.

We happen to be walking by this restaurant a few days ago & stopped to look at the menu. The menu looked good so I made a reservation. we arrived at 6:30 PM & the outside seating was almost full, but it was warm out so we decided to sit inside where it was much cooler. I started out with a glass of Chenin Blanc & my other half had a glass of Sancerre. We ordered some bread to start off. I chose the warm goat cheese over brioche with a sun-dried tapenade & my partner had the lobster carpaccio. Both dishes were excellent! My partner chose the duck confit & I had the pork mignon cutlet for our entrées. Again, both dishes were excellent. We still had room for dessert so we shared the tasting plate for two. It consisted of Tonka, bean, crème brûlée, sugar pie, honey & vanilla ice cream, opera cake. It didn't take us long to finish it! I really wanted to order another one! LOL! As the evening went on the, more people started coming in. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're staying in Quebec city.

I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday. It was really good, some things were better than others but overall enjoyable. We had the foie gras tartlet, & maybe I wasn't eating it properly but it was impossible to chew through the leek that was in it making it kind of unpleasant. The foie gras that was in it was good though. The oysters were fresh but had quite of bit of shell in it. For our mains, we had the fettuccine & the duck confit. The fettuccine was over seasoned but was quickly rectified, the duck was good, imo a tad under-seasoned but my gf loved it. The service was excellent.

We came here for the duck confit, but were only told after sitting down that all the duck-related entrées were unavailable for the night. Since it would have been difficult to find another place to eat at the last minute, we decided to stay. For appetizers, we ordered the veal tongue & the cheese plate for two. For our main entrées, we chose the fowl breast, beef tartare, & white fish, accompanied by two glasses of white wine & one cocktail. Unfortunately, none of the dishes were impressive. The cheese from the cheese plate wasn't even as good as the ones I get from the farm, the foie gras was very average, & the sausages were overly salty. For one of the white wines we ordered, there was something floating on the top. After we requested a new one, we noticed the waiter using a filter to strain the wine. We definitely won't be coming back & won't recommend this place to anyone.
