La Buche offers a vibrant and authentic dining experience that captures the heart of traditional Quebecois cuisine. Guests frequently praise the warm, festive atmosphere and the eclectic decor, which includes a notably unique washroom design. While the menu features hearty, comfort-focused dishes such as poutine, tourtière, and various maple-inspired desserts, the attentive and friendly staff consistently enhance the visit. Although the popularity of the restaurant can lead to bustling crowds and the need for reservations, many visitors find the overall quality of the food and the lively cultural immersion well worth the experience.
Had brunch here for 5 personnes. I'm happy to book in advance since it's tourist season. Good is fine, bacon ham tastes sweet. The service is good, but the price is also fancy.
J'ai été déçue de la portion qui a diminué.
On sert Juste une petite tranche de bacon!
Mais, il y a pleins de patates!
Dans ce cas, Je ne reviendrai pas de sitôt!

Fun Quebecois decor! Food was good. Came for dinner & brunch. Brunch was definitely better! Had the Sugar Shack Plate (wanted the Experience Cabane a Sucre but disappointed we needed a party of 4 or pay the full amount for 4 people). Very good variety--the crepe & candied bacon was especially delicious.
Dinner was good but pricey for what it was. The pate Chinois was an upside down shepards pie (but better). But still not worth it for $25. Least could have added was a few veggies on the side.
The beef flank steak was tender & cooked well. The barley risotto & mushroom sauce were the star of the show! Could have had more of that with less steak.
Cleanish & well-stocked, but beware of transients roaming the streets
The hosts were friendly. Wish the servers had their energy. Both hosts we got were very welcoming. Both servers were doing their bare minimum & indifferent.
Such wholesome good food. Great atmosphere. The pork rinds are nice & crispy with maple 🍁 sauce. So yummy. I ordered the maple ham eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce, which is one of my favorite meals here. The side order of the thick cut maple bacon 🥓 is also good. I really enjoy the service & vibes here. My sister ordered the Québec Shephard's pie that she said was very good. I've been back twice & will return again. Great restaurant in Vieux-Québec.
We tried the Sugar Shack sample plate, & it was absolutely delicious! The ham, candied bacon, pâté, & crêpe were definite standouts. So flavorful & well-prepared. The décor was pure Canadiana, which I absolutely loved, it really added to the charm of the place.
That said, the atmosphere was very tight & chaotic, which made it a bit overwhelming at times. Unfortunately, our server didn't check in with us during the meal, & some of the food on our platter was cold, which was disappointing, especially after trekking through a blizzard to get there.
Overall, the food was fantastic, & the ambiance was unique, but a little more attentiveness & better temperature control would have made the experience perfect! Would still recommend it for the great flavors & fun vibe.
wow, just wow! We had the brunch. Amazing food. The crepes & fruit perfect. the bacon & sausage phenomenal. Even the toast was like a cloud of yumminess. The decor & vibe so relaxing & warm. Our server was gracious & checked on us regularly. BEST brunch I had had, this restaurant ruined me for anything else we have had in the states. Bonus was if we show our receipt in the shop next door, we got 15% off our purchases in the store. I bought a shirt & Keychain. Happy to wear their brand everywhere. Our tour guide , Jeff recommended this place. We will definitely be going back.
Mediocre breakfast... disappointed My eggs were too runny, my wife's where ok Bacon was like jerky but nice & sweet Side of baked beans were awful!! Cretons were reinvented poorly, bland & placed on mustard.. a poor match up!
I've been to La Bûche three times before, & on my fourth visit, I opted for the 6-course meal priced at $65 per person. The experience had its highs & lows. The first course, foie gras, was absolutely amazing-the best dish of the night. It was extremely tasty, & the quality bacon added a fantastic touch. No complaints there. The second course was the antipasto platter, which was great, but we were served salmon tartare instead of the deer tartare because they were out of it. This was a bit disappointing since the deer tartare was one of the main reasons we returned. La Cochonne, the third course, featured the best ham I've ever had anywhere, & the pea soup served in between courses was a nice touch. The fourth & fifth courses-Shepherd's pie & Québécois meat pie with creamy salad-were delicious but came in smaller portions. For the price, we expected more food. The sixth course, dessert, was a letdown. The maple syrup taffy experience was cool-being shown how to roll it on the snow was fun-but the dessert itself was subpar. We were hoping for one of the more elaborate desserts from the menu to finish off the meal. Overall, the main negatives were the underwhelming dessert, the smaller portions of the last two courses, the absence of the deer tartare (one of the reasons we returned), & the lack of air conditioning, which made the experience less comfortable. Despite these, the meal had its highlights, especially the foie gras & ham.
