La Buche offers a memorable dining experience characterized by its vibrant, rustic atmosphere and authentic interpretations of traditional Quebecois cuisine. Visitors consistently praise the flavorful dishes, such as the hearty shepherd’s pie, deer tartare, and decadent maple-based desserts, which capture the local culinary spirit. While the restaurant is frequently bustling and popular, the service is widely noted for being friendly, professional, and accommodating. The unique decor and whimsical, themed restrooms further enhance the immersive nature of the establishment. Although wait times can occur during peak hours, securing a reservation generally ensures a smooth and enjoyable visit, making this spot a highly recommended destination for those seeking a true taste of Quebec City.

Dès notre arrivée, l'accueil a laissé à désirer.

Overall, I felt this place was a bit overpriced, but the decor is definitely something to appreciate - it features a lot of unique taxidermy & rustic details that give it a cool atmosphere.

Recommend:
Sugar Shack Plate: This is a classic French Canadian dish & worth trying just to get a genuine taste of traditional Québécois flavors!
A few highlights from the plate:
- The Baked Beans: Delightfully sweet (thanks to the local maple syrup!).
- Cretons: A traditional, cold savory pork spread simmered with spices. Texture-wise, it strangely reminds me a bit of canned tuna lol
- Fried Meatball: Crispy & fried on the outside, filled with savory minced beef on the inside, & served with a bright tomato sauce.

Do Not Recommend:
Poutine: I'd skip this one here.

Such a cute little place! We had to eat & dash though because it was SO HOT inside. It was a rainy day so I'm guessing the temp control was a bit off but we were sweaty & uncomfortable! Service was great! Cute'chalet' vibes. My friend did not love his breakfast poutine, but the breakfast blt was good!

It was my very first time to Canada & Quebec city. While the weather wasn't all that cooperative, believe me when I tell you that our experience at La Buche was Nothing short of phenomenal 💝💝
I already knew that there would be a wait for a table so I made sure to reserve ahead. Our wait was less than five minutes & they gave us the best server. Forgive me I forgot his name. He gave great recommendations & the food we ordered so good. We just kept raving about them after every mouthful. While it was a busy time- weekend brunch, we never felt like we were rushed & that was very important to me.
My friends had the poutines & mine was the chicken & waffles!

Had an amazing lunch today with the croquettes, classic poutine & maple syrup pie for dessert. Paschal was an excellent server & went above & beyond to ensure we would have an authentic Québécois experience! It made our day!!

Had a most enjoyable dinner on a cold, rainy evening. As first-time visitors to Quebec City, my wife & I had to try poutine & Canadian shepherd's pie. Both were amazing!!

Bon & copieux,
