La Buche offers a vibrant and authentic dining experience that captures the heart of traditional Quebecois cuisine. Guests frequently praise the warm, festive atmosphere and the eclectic decor, which includes a notably unique washroom design. While the menu features hearty, comfort-focused dishes such as poutine, tourtière, and various maple-inspired desserts, the attentive and friendly staff consistently enhance the visit. Although the popularity of the restaurant can lead to bustling crowds and the need for reservations, many visitors find the overall quality of the food and the lively cultural immersion well worth the experience.
Such a cute little place! We had to eat & dash though because it was SO HOT inside. It was a rainy day so I'm guessing the temp control was a bit off but we were sweaty & uncomfortable! Service was great! Cute'chalet' vibes. My friend did not love his breakfast poutine, but the breakfast blt was good!
It was my very first time to Canada & Quebec city. While the weather wasn't all that cooperative, believe me when I tell you that our experience at La Buche was Nothing short of phenomenal 💝💝
I already knew that there would be a wait for a table so I made sure to reserve ahead. Our wait was less than five minutes & they gave us the best server. Forgive me I forgot his name. He gave great recommendations & the food we ordered so good. We just kept raving about them after every mouthful. While it was a busy time- weekend brunch, we never felt like we were rushed & that was very important to me.
My friends had the poutines & mine was the chicken & waffles!

Had an amazing lunch today with the croquettes, classic poutine & maple syrup pie for dessert. Paschal was an excellent server & went above & beyond to ensure we would have an authentic Québécois experience! It made our day!!
Had a most enjoyable dinner on a cold, rainy evening. As first-time visitors to Quebec City, my wife & I had to try poutine & Canadian shepherd's pie. Both were amazing!!
Bon & copieux,
Overall is good, just maybe my expectation was too high. Omelett was the best, you can really taste the clean/rich egg flavor from the omelette. We also ordered regular 2 egg breakfast & the poutine, not as good as the omelette.
Great atmosphere & decor inside, very cosy. Food really good & the option to upgrade your fries to poutine on some dishes is great. The poutine is really delicious. No real veggie options apart from the poutine but it's great.
Beau service !
We ate at La Bûche family-style & shared everything.
We had the deer tartare, poutine, meat pie, pea soup, maple glazed pork loin, & finished with maple syrup pie.
It felt like a really, really good homemade meal.
I wasn't sure about the deer tartare going in, but it ended up being my favorite thing.
The poutine & pea soup were fine, but I wouldn't get them again.
Everything else was fantastic. I could easily eat there every day & just keep trying things. Not because everything would be my favorite, but because I trust it's solid ingredients made well.
