What reviews say

La Buche offers a memorable dining experience characterized by its vibrant, rustic atmosphere and authentic interpretations of traditional Quebecois cuisine. Visitors consistently praise the flavorful dishes, such as the hearty shepherd’s pie, deer tartare, and decadent maple-based desserts, which capture the local culinary spirit. While the restaurant is frequently bustling and popular, the service is widely noted for being friendly, professional, and accommodating. We were looking forward to this meal because of the many great reviews. The restaurant is decorated very Canadiana which was fitting. However, the dishes (French onion soup, meat pie nuggets, poutine, tourtiere & maple syrup pie) were unexceptional. Our son who loves poutine disliked the one here because the topping was a sweet spaghetti sauce. My husband's tourtiere was too heavy on the cinnamon & nutmeg & my soup & nuggets were ordinary. To top it all off, our server spoke to the table behind us for 15 minutes! So sadly, La Buche was a big miss for us.

Recommended by our tour guide. So happy to have taken up his recommendation. Went for breakfast, so good. The French toast a must try. Definitely will go back on our next trip back to QC.

A must-visit restaurant for that authentic Québecois experience. A solid & varied menu of traditional French-Canadian dishes. The staff was very polite, upbeat & had a great sense of humour. All of our dishes were fantastic & we were served promptly. If you only go to one restaurant in Old Québec, make it this one.

Literally was the best restaurant that I have been to in Quebec City. I have tried the traditional French onion soup & the Shepherds pie & omg both of them were so tasty. The atmosphere was so good & cozy. Definitely recommended.

This place usually has a line up. I went early for breakfast & it was simply amazing. I had the French toast with caramel & caramelized apples. It tasted like heaven.

We went here for brunch. There was a short 5 minute wait & we were seated promptly by the very attentive staff. Our waitress was amazing! Very friendly, approachable & knowledgeable about the menu. Everything we had here was great! From the crepes to the French toast to the fresh fruits, nothing was generic; everything had a defining flavour unique to La Buche. The star of the show was the chicken & waffles... This is probably the best chicken & waffles I've ever had! It was amazing! We still talk about it. Overall this was a wonderful dining experience!

Recommend the Quebec Sheppard's Pie. & the French onion soup. Between the two of us, the bill came up to $110 for two entrees & one starter.

We had a great experience here! Loved the rustic & funky vibe & enjoyed our food. They had great options for gluten-free / celiac dietary restrictions, including gluten-free bread. Though no gluten-free baked goods, french toast, or biscuits. Our waitress was friendly & attentive. Also knowledgeable about dietary restrictions. This place felt joyful - like the people working there liked each other & what they do.

Incredibly busy brunch place. Despite that we had efficient & nice service & very nice food. The maple apple french toast was absolutely amazing & the added bacon was the best I've had
