La Buche offers a vibrant and authentic dining experience that captures the heart of traditional Quebecois cuisine. Guests frequently praise the warm, festive atmosphere and the eclectic decor, which includes a notably unique washroom design. While the menu features hearty, comfort-focused dishes such as poutine, tourtière, and various maple-inspired desserts, the attentive and friendly staff consistently enhance the visit. Although the popularity of the restaurant can lead to bustling crowds and the need for reservations, many visitors find the overall quality of the food and the lively cultural immersion well worth the experience.
Fantastic atmosphere & amazing staff! I was dinning alone & was having trouble deciding so I took the appie platter for 2 & ate that for dinner. It was amazing. Smoked salmon, Rabbit Wings, deer tartare, salmon tartare, meat pie croquette & some pickled & dried sausage. The mains looked great. I'll have to go back again & try!
This is a charming restaurant with excellent service & tasty, interesting food. The salmon pie wasn't really a pie but it was delicious. We loved our meal there.

we had a blast. the waiter was so friendly & made wonderful recomendations. rabbit "wings", scallops in bacon & maple, shepherd's pie, bison, & salmon tatar, & funky poor mans pudding. highly recommend!
Perdon for my lack of French skills, but what I lack in language acquisition I most certainly make up in my love of La Bûche restaurant. No where else will you find a more eclectic variety of meats: in pie, in potatoes, & straight off the bone, the meats here cannot be beat. To end this review in invite, nay, IMPLORE you to venture to the basement level bathroom at this locale. I won't spoil the suspense but this bathroom is only topped by one other porcelain throne room, & that one had a self portrayed of the bar owner in a full man thong.
Went here as part of a walking food tour of the city. Looked good so we decided to have dinner one night. Great atmosphere & food. We shared the sample platter of rabbit wings, tartare, smoked salmon & meatball pies; excellent! We then shared the poutine of the day with ground pork, also excellent. Great experience & service. Definitely what we were looking for after a long day of walking & sightseeing.
We had a wonderful dinner. I had the shepherds pie & it was delicious. The beef was tender & delicious. My husband had the salmon pie & he enjoyed his dinner as well.
had dinner at La Buche based on a friend's recommendation...absolutely outstanding in every respect...we had the rabbit wings, meat pie & shepherd's pie...the food, presentation, ambiance, & service far exceeded our expectations...if the Old Quebec restaurant community has an "associate of the year award", we wholeheartedly nominate our server, Alice (in Wonderland)...attentive, personable, knowledgeable. & helpful, she made our dinner experience a night to remember...well done, Alice, very well done...
Très bien. Bonne nourriture, serveur Pierre très efficace & sympathique. Seul bémol, après un souper à $70 ils chargent $4 si on veut de la tire. Ça pourrait être au moins 1 baton gratuit par personne.
Funky vibe. Kind of fishing cabin, warming hut feel. Full of eclectic barn find furniture. Service was attentive & friendly. Food was very good. Can recommend the pea soup, shepherds pie, tortiere, & salmon pie. All are deconstructed & while they have traditional names are not prepared in a traditional manner., though are very tasty. We have gone twice in the last week & may go again.
