Review Summary

La Buche offers a vibrant and authentic dining experience that captures the heart of traditional Quebecois cuisine. Guests frequently praise the warm, festive atmosphere and the eclectic decor, which includes a notably unique washroom design. While the menu features hearty, comfort-focused dishes such as poutine, tourtière, and various maple-inspired desserts, the attentive and friendly staff consistently enhance the visit. Although the popularity of the restaurant can lead to bustling crowds and the need for reservations, many visitors find the overall quality of the food and the lively cultural immersion well worth the experience.

Excellent brunch! Recommended! We loved the bacon, the passion fruit drink & the crepes!! Poutine was also yummy.

Food was good overall. Smoked trout appetizer was fantastic. Poutine was good (I'm still not a fan of cheese curds). Poor man's pudding was tasty. Deer tartare was the best version of venison I've ever eaten. Music was too loud, waitstaff was helpful.

Such a fun place to eat. The smoked trout crepes were superb & my partner enjoyed the Maple French toast, but was also eying the poutine! The staff are very friendly & energetic. We had a patio seat out of the sun & it was perfect. Best to make reservation!

Excellent service & great food. My wife absolutely loved her french toast, & the poutine was great. Would recommend going with something that has maple on it!

My fiancé & I just visited Quebec for a few days & were both excited to try this spot. We both read such great reviews & of course the décor was a definite bonus. I am sad to say that we both were not impressed with the food. I ordered the bacon poutine & he got the chicken & waffles.
My poutine was not warm which makes even less sense as its served in a skillet(cheese curds were not melted in the slightest), the beans weren't tasty & the whole dish was Super Salty. The piece of bacon & egg on top were the only good things on my plate. I left hungry.
My Fiancé's chicken & waffles was just ok. Definitely a good piece of chicken but the waffles had a weird consistency & taste. Unfortunately this place did not live up to the hype for us.

One of my favourite meals of my life. The staff was friendly, accommodating, & had excellent suggestions. The rabbit wings were fall off the bone & insanely delicious. The venison tartare & poutine were fantastic & the highlight of it all was the poor man's pudding for dessert. Worth a trip.

Really wanted to like the place because the decor was nice & cozy but despite having made a reservation 3 days in advance we were seated right in the passage to the kitchen, which was really busy & uncomfortable, as well as the bright lights & smell of industrial dishwashers. Unfortunately the food was underwhelming as well, the poutine couldn't compete with any basic casse croute & we just found that everything was overpriced for what it was. Sad to say that it was the only place in Québec City in which we've ever been dissatisfied.

The atmosphere was perfect for our first night in Quebec City. Super warm, authentic & cozy. Food was unbelievable. My husband had the tourtiere & I had the grilled cheese with poutine. Both were spectacular & the service was amazing. We loved it so much we're going to go back for brunch during our visit.

Had a great start with nice drinks & tried out the rabbit wings. But after finishing the starters we were left waiting up to 25-30 minutes before being seen by a server again so we could order more food. By this time we decided to just get the bill & leave after seeing our server interact with other tables & not even come to us to see if we wanted anything else. We had little interaction with the server therefore don't know what could have made them ignore us the whole night. 25-30 minutes before anyone else approached. Regardless, enjoyed a great poutine & drinks at a nearby restaurant afterwards.
