La Buche offers a vibrant and authentic dining experience that captures the heart of traditional Quebecois cuisine. Guests frequently praise the warm, festive atmosphere and the eclectic decor, which includes a notably unique washroom design. While the menu features hearty, comfort-focused dishes such as poutine, tourtière, and various maple-inspired desserts, the attentive and friendly staff consistently enhance the visit. Although the popularity of the restaurant can lead to bustling crowds and the need for reservations, many visitors find the overall quality of the food and the lively cultural immersion well worth the experience.
Dommage.
This restaurant was recommended by our friends & it was the perfect spot to take a break during our road trip across the Eastern Coast of Canada on our honeymoon. I am originally Canadian, & I wanted to try the breakfast poutine, however I must admit, it was pretty dry & not up to par with the original poutine recipe from Smoke's that I have continued to love for decades. I was very impressed with the atmosphere of the outdoor patio in the back with the vibrant red color of the table linens & the environment was very comfortable. We were immediately greeted as we walked in & were sat comfortably! The service was a bit slow, as it was very crowded. The bathroom design was very unique (see photos). I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a cozy atmosphere to dine in while touring Quebec City.

Delicious food, fun atmosphere! I had the grilled cheese & poutine. Probably some of the best of both I've ever tried! Gravy was sweet, & the cheese curd was squeaky. Boyfriend had the shepherds pie. It had candied bacon. Very unique way to make the dish. Make reservations. It was a busy place!
They ran out of rabbit wings when we went for dinner at like 6pm, which was sad since that's why we went. My partner really enjoyed the venison pot pie but I thought my poutine was just okay. The house limonade was fantastic though & my partner found his new favorite drink in the spruce soda. Atmosphere is uhhh aggressively Quebecois.
Your standard Quebec Sugar Shack gets a modern face lift with this place. The portions are mid size but pack a punch of flavour. My grilled cheese was good but I wish the cheese on my poutine had melted more (that's how I like it) but it had the quintessential squeaky cheese. Make sure you come hungry.
