We were told it was ok to come in even though it was close to closing time. Our food arrived to our table within 3 minutes of ordering.
The poutine was cold, the meal presentation horrible & overall a disappointing experience.
We had made reservations months in advance & were looking forward to dining here due to the reviews.
In this beautiful city, filled with wonderful people & many great meal choices; I can't begin to express how bad our time here was.

My son at I ate at La Buche on a sat evening. The restaurant is very relaxed & the food was wonderful. I had the shepherds pie & my son chose the Poutine. Both were great. I will say though, the best part was the pork scratchings as the apps. Yummy.

I would've probably done 2 stars, but those reviews apparently only go to restaurant management. My partner & I went & I can't say we'd recommend it, which is rather disappointing given the restaurant's reputation. We got rabbit wings & a cheese board to start, which were both quite good. The mains are what fell flat. My partner got a tourtiere. It was served tepid, rather than hot, & the pastry on top was baked well past it's prime. Crispy & dry to the point of shattering rather than flaky. The "creamy salad" that came with it was just arugula with dressing, & both the cheese board & rabbit wings already came with a big stack of arugula. I got the grilled cheese (which was good) with a poutine (which was bad). The fries in the poutine were over cooked because they tasted kind of burnt. & the fries tasted stale, like they had been sitting around for a while first. Can't say we'd recommend this place.

Un service très agréable, un décor travaillé & soigné, cependant le plat principal était pour moi (poutine du jour), trop riche & trop saucé, ce qui a desservi le goût du plat, qui en devient presque écoeurant. Le boeuf effiloché était cependant très bon, nous recommandons !

Had a great meal. Portions are large & I'm American lol so no that going in for your meal. Had the rabbit wings; they were good. Not my favorite kind of BBQ sauce but cooked well. Friend had the scallops & pork belly in whisky cream sauce; very good. We both had a side of traditional poutine & the curds were nice & squeaky. Finally, I had the fried chicken sandwich. It was delicious. Maple bacon & double fried chicken. Too stuffed for dessert which was disappointing but would definitely go back. Only disappointment was size of my old fashion. Not sure if it's a Canadian thing but it was tiny. It should be bigger for $14 & every other drink I saw was normal size.

Who knew dining in a sugar shack would be so fun & delicious! Love the pea soup!! &, of course, the poutine & beef pie were delicious, too. The staff were welcoming & very helpful.
