Review Summary

La Buche offers a vibrant and authentic dining experience that captures the heart of traditional Quebecois cuisine. Guests frequently praise the warm, festive atmosphere and the eclectic decor, which includes a notably unique washroom design. While the menu features hearty, comfort-focused dishes such as poutine, tourtière, and various maple-inspired desserts, the attentive and friendly staff consistently enhance the visit. Although the popularity of the restaurant can lead to bustling crowds and the need for reservations, many visitors find the overall quality of the food and the lively cultural immersion well worth the experience.

An interesting to dine & have a drink in what can be described as a truly Quebecois experienece The atmosphere of the folks there in a very well decorated interior if one can say in that it is a bit like a cabane a sucre or sugar shack There is plenty to eat & the staff are super friendly Highly recommended if you are in Quebec City Worth a visit !!!!

This place definitely has a nice old style aesthetic, but expect it to be quite loud, & sort of touristy feeling. The bar is quite nice & I actually met some people too, you can see that their kitchen gets quite busy.
My server was pretty good, wasn't left for too long but felt rushed occasionally, but I did meet some nice people at the bar.
I got the shepherds pie which was really good, & the corn on it was very buttery & the beef was done very well, quite elevated. However it was quite expensive for what it was, & doesn't really live up to the Québecois uniqueness hype, very similar to a standards shepherds pie.
The dessert was a poor mans pudding however which was amazing & loaded with maple syrup, & something I've never had before. Felt quite sick after that but I don't regret it.
So if you come here maybe just get one of the maple based desserts since I feel the mains are very good food, but not worth the price & not all that unique. But the desserts on the other hand are amazing.

Beau service !

Went for brunch on Easter Monday with my family (3 adults & 2 kids) & really enjoyed it.

The service was excellent: La Bûche is lucky to have servers like Yoan & Audrey. Yoan recommended the Cassolette du bûcheron, & it was really, really good - eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, mushrooms, béchamel, potatoes, spinach, & cheese curd in a mini cast iron. There was something special about it that set it apart from a typical breakfast plate. Also, the toast was like eating a cloud.

The menus are printed in old-school Canada workbook style like the ones we had in school growing up. & yeah, everyone wears flannel, but I don't know anything more Québécois than bathroom soap dispensers made out of Labatt 50 bottles.

Hearty, tasty food, fun vibe, good service. Definitely going back.

Restaurant La Bûche was the perfect spot for our first night in Quebec. It was crowded & buzzing in the best way, with a lively, welcoming energy. The décor is campy but charming & adds to the fun, casual vibe. Our waitress was incredibly friendly & helped make the experience even better.

Food highlights were the poutine with meat topping-truly excellent & addictive-the French onion soup, deer tartare, & the make?your?own maple taffy for dessert, which was a fun & memorable finish. The only miss was the meat pie, which I really wanted to love but found a bit too dry & could have used more broth or gravy.

Overall, a lively, comforting, & very Quebecois meal that we thoroughly enjoyed.
