Wanted to try this restaurant as we were told it's exemplary of Quebecoise cuisine.

We ordered these:

Onion soup with bread
Beef patty with mashed potatoes
Pate chinois (braised beef with creamed corn & fruit ketchup)

Everything was high quality, tasted freshly made. Nothing was over done or too bland. I will say, the meal is fine for what it is. Coming from the US it tastes like a fresh/farmers market version of typical Midwest American food. Our favorite was the soup, the other dishes were good, but nothing particularly mind blowing.

Also if you don't eat pork there are limited options.

Where better to have a wonderful omelette or crepes than La Buch of Quebec City? Tea or coffee included which is nice. Friendly staff with enough English if you don't speak French. At least give a'merci' for tasty Quebecois brunch. Will do dinner next time I'm in Quebec City.

Super expérience dans la tradition québécoise. Notre fils nous l'a fait découvrir... C'était parfait. Les plats sont copieux & délicieusement réconfortants, le service & l'ambiance très chaleureux. Une très belle soirée ! & la cerise sur le gâteau, c'est la tire à l'érable ;-) j'adore ! Pensez à réserver.

We had the Shepherd's Pie, the Salmon, the tourtiere & a bowl of pea soup with bread. All of the dishes were delicious! Service was excellent & the ambiance was so…how do you say…Québécois! We loved this place!

La mejor experiencia, personal amable y caluroso, la mejor manera de conocer la comida Quebecoise en un ambiente de cabana de azúcar, es un referente a tu paso por Quebec no importa de que parte del mundo vengas

Fun Quebecois decor! Food was good. Came for dinner & brunch. Brunch was definitely better! Had the Sugar Shack Plate (wanted the Experience Cabane a Sucre but disappointed we needed a party of 4 or pay the full amount for 4 people). Very good variety--the crepe & candied bacon was especially delicious.
Dinner was good but pricey for what it was. The pate Chinois was an upside down shepards pie (but better). But still not worth it for $25. Least could have added was a few veggies on the side.
The beef flank steak was tender & cooked well. The barley risotto & mushroom sauce were the star of the show! Could have had more of that with less steak.
Cleanish & well-stocked, but beware of transients roaming the streets
The hosts were friendly. Wish the servers had their energy. Both hosts we got were very welcoming. Both servers were doing their bare minimum & indifferent.
