La Buche offers a vibrant and authentic dining experience that captures the heart of traditional Quebecois cuisine. Guests frequently praise the warm, festive atmosphere and the eclectic decor, which includes a notably unique washroom design. While the menu features hearty, comfort-focused dishes such as poutine, tourtière, and various maple-inspired desserts, the attentive and friendly staff consistently enhance the visit. Although the popularity of the restaurant can lead to bustling crowds and the need for reservations, many visitors find the overall quality of the food and the lively cultural immersion well worth the experience.
Great Staff, great ambiance, great food. I had the ribs & felt they were perfectly cooked to my liking. Not fall off the bone on your plate but fall off the bone in your mouth. Service was fast & friendly. I recommend this restaurant as a "must go" if you go to Quebec City.
Had a great time. The food was good. The servers were amazing & made us feel very welcome. The ambiance was so fun. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Quebec City for the first time.

This is a must visit Experience! My BF & I go to La Buche every time we visit Old Quebec & we recommend it to everyone that we see. I am a travel consultant & I also tell all clients as well. Fantastic food, service & atmosphere! Love it & look forward to seeing you again soon, fingers crossed Feb for Winter Carnival!
Lovely old building with an authentic northern Canadian feeling. Luckily we had made reservations, as the line up to get in was very long. Great French Canadian music. The food was tasty & a wide variety of meats & dishes were available. We had the chef's special (venison shank with fettuccine & scallops) & the Shepherd's pie. Both were delicious. For dessert we tried the poor man's cake with ice cream. This was not to our liking, but many people recommended it so it was just a personal choice. I would definitely recommend you try this place as it us an unique experience.
Great good & staff. Laurianne, our waitress, was just perfect. We live in Qc City & can only but recommend this "local" restaurant located in a touristy area.
I booked La Buche after seeing positive reviews online. I went with my boyfriend for dinner as our first dinner / night out in Quebec City. I thought it was a perfect place to start the vacation as it was kitschy, fun, & lively. The food was decent - we shared the pea soup as an appetizer (5/5), I got the Shepard's pie (3/5), & my boyfriend got the club sandwich (5/5). The service was just okay, which I found surprising as most reviews I had read raved about the service; I mean, our waitress was perfectly fine, she just wasn't GREAT, nor made it an "experience." I would go back again, & I'd recommend others to go, but the recommendation would mostly be based on the vibes of the restaurant, music, & kitschy Canadian feels you get when dining there.
Our visit to La Bouche was one of the highlights of our trip to Quebec.
The food was beyond amazing. The jambon is now on my list as one of the best dishes I have ever had in my life - & that is a looooong life. This dish can easily serve two.
Everyone in our party loved the restaurant. The chefs did an amazing job providing a dinner for one member who is vegan.
The atmosphere was fun. Our waitress was unfailingly polite & accepting of our high-school-level French skills.
I wish I knew how to thank my tour guide who, the day before our visit, mentioned La Bouche & recommended it to those of us on the tour. I would never have known to make reservations without him.
Think about opening a branch in St. Louis, Missouri - we actually share a French heritage. You would be the only Quebecois restaurant in town. - That is probably the only way I could experience that jambon once again. It is sad to realize I never will.
