La Buche offers a memorable dining experience characterized by its vibrant, rustic atmosphere and authentic interpretations of traditional Quebecois cuisine. Visitors consistently praise the flavorful dishes, such as the hearty shepherd’s pie, deer tartare, and decadent maple-based desserts, which capture the local culinary spirit. While the restaurant is frequently bustling and popular, the service is widely noted for being friendly, professional, and accommodating. The unique decor and whimsical, themed restrooms further enhance the immersive nature of the establishment. Although wait times can occur during peak hours, securing a reservation generally ensures a smooth and enjoyable visit, making this spot a highly recommended destination for those seeking a true taste of Quebec City.

Incroyable ! Des plats typiques & traditionnels qui sont cuisinés à la perfection! Une ambiance très québécoise avec des chants traditionnels également & un service au top avec un personnel accueillant, souriant & très réactif
Nous avons passé un agréable moment

From the moment you enter La Buche you are immersed in Quebecois. Our selections included a succulent duck confit with a perfect contrast of crispy skin & silky interior. The Pouten was perfectly prepared with right balance of tendor meat, curds, fries, & rich gravey. The service was great & very responsive. These people really care about their patrons & take pride in their restaurant. Well worth a trip to Quebec City to take in this great experience.

Ambiance chaleureuse & familiale dans ce restaurant typique de la ville ! Cependant, on sent que c'est de la cuisine rapide & simple… Les clients doivent vite manger & repartir pour laisser la place aux autres, c'est dommage.

A must try if you're in Quebec city with typical Quebec dishes. We had a reservation & waited for less than 10 minutes before they showed us to our table. We ordered the French onion soup, my partner liked it but I found it too sweet. Our main was the salmon tartare, tasted very fresh & flavorful. For dessert we had the pudding (square cake) with ice cream & maple sauce.
We enjoyed the unique atmosphere, it's fun & kitschy & of course a visit to the washrooms are a must!

Food is very good. If your American you can relate it to Southern style food. The shepherds pie is really popular & it is good but is more like beef stew. The service was fast & friendly.

My wife & I went to La Buche on Aug 25 2026 for breakfast because at night there is always a lineup.

She had the caramel crepes & I had the 2 eggs with bacon breakfast. We had coffee & orange juice as well. The bacon was not done in a way I had ever tried but it was great.

The service was great & the food came fast. The atmosphere in the restaurant was awesome. You also get a receipt for 15% at teh nearby La Buche Souvenir shop but for some reason whenever we tried to stop in it was closed.

I would recommend this restaurant.

Great restaurant filled with Canadiana items: from the decor with old wooden sleds hanging from the ceiling to the menu, which hits all the classics. The onion soup is particularly tasty, while the tourtière was chockfull with meat (although I didn't like the floating crust on top - I prefer the traditional double crusted pie).
Service is efficient & staff is super friendly. You need reservations, however.
