La Buche is a Quebec-style restaurant located in the middle of Old Quebec.
It definitely has a touristy feel, but the restaurant was packed with customers, which was a good sign.
Our family of four ordered the Quebec shepherd's pie, venison tartare, Salade de la Bûche with smoked trout & goat cheese, meat pie croquettes, & a few beers. Everything was delicious.
I was especially impressed by the venison tartare, I was worried it might have a strong gamey taste, but there was no unpleasant smell or flavor.
The atmosphere is lively & bustling, which we enjoyed, although it's definitely not a quiet place.
The only downside was that the restaurant wasn't using the air conditioning, so it felt a bit warm. Still, if you want to try traditional Quebec-style food, I'd definitely recommend giving La Buche a try.

Amazing authentic Quebecois Pea Soup! Awesome drinks, most notably the Courier de Bois maple whiskey! Like a fine dessert!

The Pate Chinois was not what were expecting. More like some pulled beef pot roast with gravy poured on top of some mashed potatoes & corn niblets. Have had many great Quebecois Shepherd's Pie over the years, & it was never like this. Was ok, but would not order it again. Should have ordered the tortierre instead.

Funky building & room. Only complaint is that the tables are jammed in way too close to each other. Service was spotty. Friendly enough, but some long AWOL periods where waiter disappeared.

I suspect that the brunch is better. We went for dinner. Worth a visit.

Si vous désirez faire l'expérience d'un menu typiquement Québécois, comme dans le temps, vous devez aller à ce restaurant. Décoré dans ses moindres détails comme une cabane à sucre, vous pourrez goûter à des mets locaux. Le service & nos repas étaient super malgré le fort volume de clients le jour de notre visite. Prenez également le temps d'examiner le décor où se cache toutes sortes de trésors.

We had a reservation so we didn't wait long. Food portions were a little small but no one left hungry. The menu is small.

The music was way too loud, & there were so many people packed in there. The good came quickly so we felt we were being rushed. I'm not from around here so I won't be back.

A fun, iconic Québécois restaurant! We had salmon, seafood roll, & steak & decided the steak was our favorite. We do not eat pork & expressed this to the waitress who was very accommodating. It is definitely a popular spot, so reserve ahead-even on weekdays. A fun, quintessential experience.

We came on a Tuesday for brunch a little early for our reservation & were seated right away. However, it took about 10 minutes for our server to greet us & when we ordered drinks one was forgotten. We ordered a variety of foods to try & it looked fantastic but the taste didn't really stand out as fantastic like we had hoped. We were a bit disappointed by both the food & the service based on what we had heard. The meat pie was cold in the middle & didn't really have a lot of flavor. My brunch sampler tray was missing some of the items listed in the description. My favorite part was the Caribou & the outdoor seating! I wish I had bought a bottle to come home with.

Loved it. This restaurant works. An incredibly efficient team. The front end staff all work so well together. & the kitchen, they can cook!!
