Review Summary

La Buche stands out as a vibrant and unique destination in Old Quebec, celebrated for its authentic and hearty interpretation of traditional Québécois comfort food. Guests frequently praise the lively, rustic atmosphere and the exceptionally friendly, professional service that makes both locals and visitors feel welcome. While the menu highlights include standout dishes like the tourtière, shepherd's pie, and various maple-infused desserts, the restaurant's distinct decor and famously unconventional washroom setup add a memorable layer to the overall dining experience. Although it is a popular spot that can become quite busy, leading some to recommend reservations, the majority of patrons find the combination of high-quality ingredients, generous portions, and spirited ambiance to be a highlight of their time in the city.

Delicious food, friendly & helpful staff - no problem speaking English with us as our French was limited. Would absolutely go back & highly recommend for reasonably priced, excellent food & great portion sizes.

A nice place to grab a bite, & food was good. But the waiting time was too long, & there is a bread clip inside of side fruit bowl :(

Delighted to discover La Buche to be a combination of innovative & satisfying. I enjoyed a sprightly venison tartare (a burst of spice on the palate) with crispy french fries. & for dessert the poor mans' pudding is perfect in its simplicity, with its spot of cream stashed on just one side.

The black pudding & the poutine were "to die for". Excellent service & family friendly atmosphere. We will be back on our next trip to QC.
