Laurie Raphaël offers a memorable and elevated dining experience in Québec City, characterized by creative tasting menus that showcase high-quality, local ingredients through meticulous technique. Most guests praise the impeccable, warm, and professional service, often highlighting the personal touches like meeting the team in the kitchen. While the artistic presentation and unique flavor combinations are frequently celebrated as world-class, some patrons note that pricing, particularly regarding wine selections and overall value, can be a point of discussion. The atmosphere is generally described as sophisticated yet inviting, making it a popular choice for celebrations and special occasions where diners appreciate a thoughtfully curated and innovative culinary journey.
A wonderful dining experience. The chef expertly handled all of my husband's limited dietary needs & provided a delicious meal. It has been our best dinner yet in Quebec City. The staff was also outstanding.
We were on the terrace, hence ambience slightly less than inside.
I can only drink one glass per night. I would have preferred slightly more choice in the wines by the glass.
Really really liked the service, including walking thru the kitchen, the menu, the explanations & the note put on the table for each course. Very good.
The transfer to the bar for cognac & special treats is a really good idea & fun. Makes the evening more special.
You can have great service but if the food isn't great then it falls away, but we really enjoyed the food. It was special food & a special evening. We are admirers of dedicated chefs, such as yours.
Thank you.
Superb! Must try! Seasonal tasting menu with accompanied wine was incredible! Antony my waiter was so knowledgeable about the wines. The atmosphere & service were excellent. Highlights include caviar starter, foie gras tart, gold leafed scallop ceviche, mushroom pasta I could have bathed in, fritter of squash blossom with eggplant caviar (wow!), heirloom tomato sauce/garlic flower sauce, Camy Chardonnay, fabulous grenache rose (forgot name) & pretty much all of the pairings were sublime. Cannot recommend enough for an unforgettable dining experience! Love the greetings of the chefs when you enter! 100% would go again & again. Thank you for showcasing Canadian Seasonal ingredients.
My wife & I had terrific dinner at Laurie Raphaël. As a gastronomic restaurant, Laurie Raphaël does not disappoint. Every part of the dining experience is very well thought out & executed.
After we arrived, the host led us through the restaurant to our table. Surprisingly, the first part of the restaurant that we entered was the kitchen, where Chef Raphaël Vézina & his Chefs all stopped whatever they were doing & greeted us with a hearty, "Bonsoir!" The entire space is beautiful & modern.
After we were seated & enjoying a cocktail, the complete tasting menu was explained to us. My wife & I wanted to enjoy a lighter dinner on the final night of our first ever trip to Vieux-Québec, so we chose the five-course Menu Personnalisé over the full eight-course Expérience Gastronomique. I also chose to have the wine pairings with my meal.
The food was terrific; inventive & delicious. We really enjoyed the pairing of cucumber with caviar, & the textures & flavors of the lobster course were fantastic. I only wish that I had been offered some bread to soak up every last bit of the sauce. There were no missteps with any of the dishes, which were all delicious. I'll post photos.
The wines were chosen playfully & from all over the world. I particularly enjoyed the Il Roccolo di Monticelli di Rado, which transported me back to Venice.
At first, I worried that the service would be less convivial than I prefer. The staff appeared to have clearly defined roles; some set the table, others delivered the food & others cleared the table. However, there was one gentleman who acted as our host & came by to introduce each course, & showed great humor when I asked him to do it in both English & then French, &, finally, both English & French at the same time.
As tourists, the only part of our meal that was lacking was a clear connection between the food & wines to the locality. We travel to eat & experiencing the terroir is important to us. I was hoping for a more clearly Québécois meal. For example, I selected the cheese option for my dessert course. It was a play on carbonara; a flan of egg, Louis d'Or cheese & guanciale. While the cheese is from Québec, I might have thought that I was in Rome, instead of Québec.
As I said, however, this feeling is particular to us as tourists. As a gastronomic experience, our meal lacked nothing & would stand out anywhere that we have been in the world.
An amazing culinary experience! From the moment we walked in the door, the hostess took us by the kitchen where we were greeted by the Chefs & their team. Choosing the full experience with wine pairings, we found the selection of mostly locally sourced fare to be thoughtful with unique gastronomic preparations.. The flavors, textures & overall presentation of each plating was impeccably executed by Chef & staff! The sommelier's pairing for each course was thoughtful & complimented the flavor profiles perfectly. It was wonderful to experience a Quebec wine & Pilsner as well. Anthony, Juan, & their team were attentive & very knowledgeable about each plating & pairing. A culinary journey we highly recommend. We will be back!
Tout était délicieux
Personnel très attentif à nos besoin
Très agréable de pouvoir rencontrer le chef & sa brigade
Depuis l'ouverture j'y suis retournée à plusieurs reprises & je n'ai jamais été déçue
