Excellent with ONE Exception

For foodies & those who enjoy the delights & creative minds of the best chefs to entice ones culinary delights Laurie Raphael is one to keep on your go to / bucket list. From start to finish the overall experience was amazing coupled with the wine pairings LR is right up there on top of the list!

Now for the one exception & the four star rating which could have easily been five. The front of the house at LR needs a crash course in how to appropriately handle ones coat & umbrella. In my years of fine dining I did not hesitate to hand off our fine Italian coats & umbrellas to the hostess upon our arrival as it was a damp rainy night in Quebec city. Imagine our disappointment after an incredible meal that one of our umbrellas, a gift from a dear friend by the way, was accidentally given to another patron earlier. We were offered a cheap flimsy small umbrella instead & a semi-apology that was unauthentic & less than genuine. Furthermore no offer to track down the earlier patron of make amends in any way for our loss.

Our expectation of a restaurant of LR's caliber was to protect our belongings & return them in good order. In this case neither the apology or offer to write down an email for the hostess in case the previous diner antes up & returns the umbrellas made us feel any better.

Funny how one misstep like this can ruin a $600 plus dinner essentially making the last 2.5 hours a wash. My hope here is someone from LR in Quebec reads this review, goes through their guest list the night of Saturday October 16th & reaches with an offer to return our umbrella.

In summary this is a wonderful experience, sans ours, & when checking in my advice is take everything you came with to your table.

Notre passage au Laurie Raphaël fut simplement divin. Tout était absolument parfait! La nourriture, la présentation des plats, le service, l'ambiance, la délicatesse dans tout... Je l'avoue, pendant plus de trois heures, je me suis sentie comme une princesse & mon amoureux a aussi grandement apprécié son expérience. Que du bonheur! Nos papilles furent comblées. Merci à tous les membres de l'équipe! Bravo au chef Raphaël & à son escouade, ainsi qu'à l'équipe de service!

Un restaurant qu'on fréquente depuis 30. La cuisine est excellente, le personnel attentif mais pas snob, une belle atmosphère. Toute une expérience culinaire. De belles découvertes à chacun de nos passages.

Service impeccable! & que dire des plats, délicieux & originaux, à la hauteur de mes attentes. Une première pour moi & certainement pas la dernière. Les serveurs / serveuses sont drôles & super gentils. Énorme coup de coeur pour le foie gras, un délice !!

Food was ordinary. Receptionist was terrible who gave us the worst table in the restaurant which was by the entrance way & next to the exit door. Our booking was 5:30pm & we were the second customers who arrived but given the worst table. We saw others who arrived later & pointed at better tables & were given. AlsoI mentioned that it was a birthday celebration at reservation but wasn't notice by any staff there. Anyway we didn't bother, just finished our so called personalised menu courses & went away to a nicer place for a drink. The bill was C$426 inclusive gratuities but definitely not worth for going. Maybe for curiosity but certainly not go there for a special occasion as it would spoil your special day.

Belle ambiance, très bon service. Les plats étaient tous bien présentés & délicieux. Mes coups de coeur: croustade aux pommettes & foie gras ainsi que le mille-feuille, agréablement accompagné d'un Vidal du vignoble Val Caudalies de Dunham. Bravo à toute l'équipe & un gros merci aux chefs.
