Review Summary

Le Chic Shack offers a memorable dining experience in the heart of Old Quebec, consistently praised for its flavorful, gourmet burgers and unique poutine variations. Many diners appreciate the house-made sodas, milkshakes, and crispy, well-seasoned fries, alongside a welcoming and efficient service team. While the restaurant can become quite busy and lively due to its popular location near the Chateau Frontenac, the vibrant atmosphere and picturesque views enhance the overall meal. Whether enjoying a vegetarian option or a classic meaty favorite, guests often find the food to be fresh, satisfying, and well-suited for a casual yet high-quality break during their city explorations.

Nice spot for good food near to the Chateau Frontenac. The fries are excellent, as are the hot sauces.

The atmosphere & service were adequatem unfortunately, space is limited & we ended up sitting by the window for a date night. There was barely any light & I had to kight up my menu woth my cell phone. My Le Forestier poutine was good, but quite a small size for 22$. Also, the fries were not standard longer friez but rather taters. For a poutine & a beer, I ended up with a 40$ bill with tip. I understand Old Québec is more expensive, but I left underwhelmed.

Reviews had this as a top destination in Old Quebec for putine. Having never sampled this Canadian specialty, this had to be the starting point. The place is obviously very popular based on the line outside down the sidewalk. We waited for about 30 minutes. It was a Sunday afternoon around 2:00. We ordered Putine with braised beef & a salad with chicken & a bunch of other stuff. The menu noted the fact that their putine is made with cubed potatoes instead of the usual (at least I thought) french fries. Turns out it was beef roast with cheese curds. I expected a thick, creamy gravy & got braising liquid over roasted potatoes. It tasted very good but not what I was expecting. The salad was wonderful with mixed greens, berts, parsnips, green beans, cherry tomatoes, savory granola, & a tart, horseradishy dressing. Out service was very prompt & the place has a very energetic vibe. Parking? Forget about it.

The burgers were small, tasted processed, & were as salty as hades, the'poutine' was a few baby potatoes (not fries) sitting in some brownish water that was pretending to be gravy, & now my husband has the worst farts & I'm stuck in an RV with him for hours. The only reason it got 2 stars for food was the milkshake was good. In & out tourist trap - avoid!

Chic Shack is a must-try! The fries are insanely good, crispy & full of flavor. The hamburger was juicy & fresh, & the milkshake-absolutely delicious! They also have a great selection of sodas. Chill vibes! Definitely coming back!

Went for lunch, insanely busy as its peak tourist season. Waiters were very nice & hardworking. We got our food relatively quick however we ordered more items after we got our meals including water for multiple people (we were a table of 6) & the water took a while to come. One person didn't even get any water despite asking. This is totally okay as it was busy & it is easy to miss one or two things here & there.

How good is the food? Depends on what you get. The milkshakes, soda, & fries are fantastic. A regular order of fries is a very generous portion. The vegan poutine is.... weird. The sauce isn't even trying to resemble a gravy, it really seemed like it was just their tomato soup poured over some potatoes & cheese curds (i asked for regular cheese curds as i am a vegetarian, not vegan. It normally comes with tofu curds). I ate it but as i was expecting a more gravy like sauce, i did not enjoy. I wish the menu described it a little better. The portion was also weird. We had asked how the portions were & the waiter showed us the bowls they would come in. I ordered a small because it looked like a solid amount for a heavy dish. The bowl was maybe a little more than half full. Lesson learned. We got a couple regular orders of fries for the table after as a few of us were still hungry.
I would absolutely go again, but will be opting for something else for sure.

I ordered the garden burger (vegetarian) with fries & a homemade raspberry soda.

Let's start with the burger. The patty was mostly rice & pumpkin seeds-an interesting concept-but it completely fell apart. I'm not sure what the binding ingredient was (if any), but it didn't hold its shape at all. I ended up eating it with a knife & fork, which kind of defeats the purpose of a burger. It came topped with tomato, lettuce, marinated onions, & beets on a brioche bun. I had to add some Firebarns lime & jalapeno sauce just to bring it to life-it was bland overall.

Now, the fries? Fantastic. Freshly cut, cooked perfectly, & topped with a unique salty-sweet seasoning that really worked. & the homemade raspberry soda was a winner too-fresh, tangy, & not overly sweet. Both the fries & the drink were standout items.

The atmosphere was also a big plus-welcoming, laid-back, & with a cool, original vibe that made the experience feel thoughtful & intentional.
Overall, I'm giving it 4 stars. The burger needs serious improvement-if you're offering a vegetarian option, make it one worth coming back for. & only accepting credit or debit? That's a bit of a letdown in 2025. Still, the fries, the drink, & the vibe saved the day

Delicious place, enjoyed the food & homemade sodas. The fries were crispy & just right. Great stop for any tourists going on the bus tour or watching the live entertainment.
