Perfect attentive service. Marvelous food. Dover sole was best I ever had; wife loved her scallops! Tableside prepared Cesar salad was great. Peaches flambé ended a beautiful evening. Just go.

Can not go wrong with classic French cuisine executed to perfection. It was FANTASTIC. Our waiter, Kevin, guided is through the wine list, steak offerings, appetizers & desserts. He was friendly while being formal in his white tux & controlled table-side cooking at 4 tables without missing a beat. Our escargot was delicious, we shared a chateaubriand that was flambéed table-side to a perfect medium rare & accompanied with an assortment of vegetables. Tried the cheese plate & it was great. Finished the dinner with our Saint-Emilion Bordeaux a decadent decadent chocolate mouse. The place is on the formal side, but the staff puts you at ease quickly, the Waiters & Chefs know what they are doing. FANTASTIC MEAL WELL WORTH THE PRICE
Excellent meal yet again at the continental restaurant. The service was excellent & the flambée impressive! The only thing I would change would be have real flower arrangements or to get rid of the old dusty silk flower arrangements that have been there for years. For such a classy place this dates it. Appart from that everything was wonderful!
Thank you for making our special anniversary dinner even more special! The waiters are superb & serve you in their white suits & ties! It is almost a lost art the way they serve you! The flambé was very special! Duck l'orange, shrimp in cognac sauce, vegetables & desserts were all amazing! Take advantage of going back in time & enjoy a little Downton Abbey style!
We enjoyed the food which could be classified as traditional steakhouse. The shrimp was prepared perfectly flambé at the table, as well as the filet mignon. The evening was spoiled, however, when a waiter spilled a glass of red wine & not really apologize for his mistake & did not replace the spilled wine. The other wait staff provided good & friendly service except for this particular unrepentant waiter. It was a shame. Not going back.
We have amazing culinary experience at Le Continental, the oldest restaurant in Quebec City. The staff were very professional & ensured we were well taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious. We had Coquetel de crevettes au Parfum de Cognac & Escargots à l'ail en coquilles followed by the Canard à l'orange flambé. It was quite a treat to experience gueridon service, one of the only restaurants in North America to provide this table service. There are two types of waiters, the experienced white coats & their apprentices, who wear maroon jackets. Unfortunately, there was a very rude family from Berkeley California, who were seated near us. They did not like that an apprentice was assisting at their table- stating that "learning is for the kitchen". However, they thought it was perfectly acceptable to bring a loud infant with them to a very adult restaurant. They also thought it was their right to loudly scold the waiter for everyone within earshot to hear. Going so far as to let him know they have been to Paris, where things are done right. We felt bad for the waiter, who remained calmed & professional. If you decide to dine at this exceptional restaurant, we hope you will enjoy the culinary traditions as much as we did.
Fabulous! Flambeed everything! Outstanding service - our waiter was both an excellent chef & server. Every table was filled for an early sitting on a Tuesday night in July. Fantastic fifties cuisine - cherries jubilee, lobster Newburg (flambé of course), Caesar salad made at our table - a perfect birthday celebration.
Very nice meal & experience. Everything prepared table side -Caesar salad for two, Châteaubriand & cherries Flambé. Two cocktails & moderate priced bottle of wine had the bill about what you'd expect to pay for a better meal in any US city. Definitely recommend making this a part of your Quebec dining. Only disappointment was there is no dress code for a nice place. We were simply dressed for a nice nite out but at least one other patron was in a long sleeve T-Shirt. Sort of took away from the setting.
