About

The great story of a small bistro... Like a treasure buried in the heart of Faubourg St-Jean, a really well-kept secret ... the story of The Hobbit. This small, unpretentious bistro, is a reflection of the character of Tolkien, it carries with it the greatness of a story whose echo is still heard today at the cafe. Over time, it became the place where culinary delights come together in an ambiance worthy of a warm and cozy home. But beware, behind that familiar face, between the stones of this old house lurk ghosts that give The Hobbit that "je ne sais quoi" and make it a place apart from all others.

I had the eggs Benedict, which I have to admit it wasn't my favourite, but only because it's different than your traditional eggs benny. The service was exceptional though, Clara was the nicest & made sure we enjoyed everything!

Nice little Café/restaurant with good basic foods. Mostly french influenced north american. Service was amazingly friendly & the brunch was quite good. Fresh bread smoked bacon, white ham eggs baked potatoes. Coffee was also quite good. Atmosphere is that of a european café & very cozy. visited in the late morning hours.

We tried this restaurent for breakfast. They serve classical dishes with new twists. The carrot cake French toast was very unusual. Even the egg Benedict did not taste as expected. No sauce hollandaise, they use their seasonal flavors.

Of the three dishes from Le hobbit I would highly recommend the salmon tartare it blended together the perfect amount of ingredients make a remarkable taste, but above that the Smokey devilled eggs were the best overall 10/10 must have! The chicken & waffles were great too but I would more so recommend the salmon & eggs

Such a treasure! We found it walking around Jean Baptist street nearing lunch time & angled for the brunch menu. The scrambled urchin eggs were unreal - as were the deviled eggs. So rich & complex & just fantastic. You canNOT miss the orleans spritz. Subtle gorgeous elixir that will stay in my hobbit loving heart forever! Our server Leanna (I am pretty sure that is here name) - so kind & sweet & enthusiastic. Also loved every damn song that came on. Looooved this place & the whole street. Spend a day here. & do not miss the library in the church. So cool!

This was wonderful. We had a table by an open window on a beautiful day. Lovely servers. I had sea urchin omelet which was shockingly great. So were the deviled eggs. Great experience.

Came here for breakfast & was not disappointed. The special menu with local & French inspiration was vegetarian-friendly & so tasty! We got the the vegetable tarte tatin & the eggs benedict, both were a hit. This is a nice elevated option for breakfast.

Very disappointed in our breakfast experience.
First we show up at 9:30am & there are No other customers?
I ordered a very interesting Eggs Benedict that came only with two eggs on an English muffin & a lukewarm warm red beet sauce for $20. A small bowl of potatoes $5.50 & a small coffee $4.50 & No refill offered.
My friend ordered the One egg breakfast that came with cold white ham, 3 potatoes , & toast $15.00 plus $4.50 for tea & No refill offered.
At the end breakfast was very underwhelming, waitress cashed us out & disappeared behind the bar counter never to be seen again.
We left the restaurant & there was still no other customers?

Best & most interesting eggs Benedict I ever had. Quick service & delicious food on a beautiful street. Highly recommend! Suggest adding roasted potatoes to it so you don't waste the last bit of sauce!
