About

The great story of a small bistro... Like a treasure buried in the heart of Faubourg St-Jean, a really well-kept secret ... the story of The Hobbit. This small, unpretentious bistro, is a reflection of the character of Tolkien, it carries with it the greatness of a story whose echo is still heard today at the cafe. Over time, it became the place where culinary delights come together in an ambiance worthy of a warm and cozy home. But beware, behind that familiar face, between the stones of this old house lurk ghosts that give The Hobbit that "je ne sais quoi" and make it a place apart from all others.

What an amazing place! Everything was delicious. Our group ordered most of the main courses available, & every single one was outstanding. I had the black pudding, & it was easily the best I've ever tasted

What drew us in initially was the Michelin guide sign, so we were very surprised by how disappointing the experience was. The staff was welcoming & friendly, however both ordering & then paying our bill took a frustrating amount of time. & all this would be ok if the food was worth it. We got the urchin scrambled eggs on toast, the waffle chicken, & the soup of the day which lowkey tasted like what's left on your bowl after eating a vinaigrette salad . The urchin scrambled eggs had little to no taste & the burnt edges toast they were on was not remarkable either. The waffle chicken was a little dry but nothing too wrong about it. Also nothing too right either.
We paid around 50$ so it wasn't that bad I just wish I would have spent it somewhere else.

Went for lunch & the menu was very limited. Had the boudin which was decent, but the sourdough toast came unpleasantly burnt & dripping with butter. Soup was gimmicky. Felt overrated.

Surprisingly disappointing. The service was friendly but nothing memorable, the food on the other hand was not good. The tomato tart had raw crust & filling tasted just like plain tomato paste. The Eggs Benedict had hard poached eggs not soft. When we asked the server they said it was supposed to be like that. Unfortunately wouldn't recommend or return.

Good food overall - would have preferred the chicken sausage to be a lil more cooked.

L'accueil chaleureux.
