Review Summary

Légende offers an immersive fine dining experience centered on innovative boreal cuisine, where locally sourced ingredients are transformed into creative and beautifully presented tasting menus. Guests frequently praise the professional, attentive, and passionate service, noting that the staff often goes above and beyond to make celebrations feel special. The atmosphere is consistently described as cozy, elegant, and welcoming, making it a standout destination in Quebec City for those seeking a memorable culinary journey. While the majority of visitors leave feeling delighted by the complex flavors and thoughtfully curated wine and non-alcoholic pairings, a few have noted that the portion sizes or pacing can sometimes feel unconventional for a long-form tasting experience.

A Stellar Celebration at Légende:
We visited Légende Restaurant Boréal in Québec City for a special celebration this summer, & it was a truly standout experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere struck the perfect balance between refined elegance & warm hospitality, setting a wonderful tone for our evening.

The Culinary Artistry:
The menu is a beautiful tribute to local terroir, featuring ingredients sourced from across the province. Every plate served was a visual masterpiece, showcasing incredible creativity & thoughtful craftsmanship. While the bold, avant-garde flavors were a unique departure from our usual preferences, we were deeply impressed by the kitchen's innovation & the high caliber of technique that earned them their Michelin star.

Impeccable Service & Pacing:
The service was consistently excellent-professional, attentive, & highly coordinated. One thing to note is that the team operates on a precise timeline; they move with purpose to keep the experience flowing, so you'll want to be ready to keep up with their expert rhythm!

Final Thoughts:
Between the staff's incredible attention to detail & the stunning setting in the heart of Old Québec, it was a deeply memorable night. Légende is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the cutting edge of Québécois cuisine in a world-class environment.

This creative menu/tasting menu is absolutely divine. Everything about it was so amazing, perfectly paired, & I loved the addition of the introduction of the raw ingredients in the container to show you from the start to the finish on the dish.

I also had the non-acoholic pairings & the cocktails were mind-blowing!

Fun Fact - they will be going into renovations starting at the end of February 2026, expanding the kitchen to allow for more of an open concept. This menu will be up now (Jan 2026) until they close for renovations.

Really cool tasting menu with strong emphasis on local ingredients & flavours. The cocktails were also incredible. The steak was probably the highlight dish for me. A much different experience compared to the Toronto Michelin spots, which I appreciated.

We visited Légende Restaurant Boréal while in Québec City to celebrate a special evening. The service was impeccable & the atmosphere was elegant yet welcoming, making it a lovely place for a celebration.

The menu showcases local ingredients from across the province, & every dish was beautifully presented & thoughtfully crafted. While we appreciated the concept & creativity, a few of the dishes did not quite align with our personal tastes, so the food did not stand out as much as we had hoped given its new Michelin star distinction.

That said, it was still a memorable evening, the staff's professionalism, the attention to detail, & the setting in Old Québec made the experience worthwhile.

A few years ago, I had an unforgettable dinner at another restaurant from this group, Restaurant Tanière³ -& this time was just as incredible. From the moment we received the entry code by text, to the moment we left, everything felt like a truly special experience. It was one of those rare dinners where every little detail stays with you.

Once again, everything was perfect-the atmosphere, the kindness of the staff, & the consistency in quality. Each dish was a celebration of fresh, vibrant ingredients with perfectly balanced seasoning. The cocktails were just as impressive-refined, creative, & absolutely delicious. & the dessert at the end… flawless.

Honestly, the quality & value here are beyond what you could imagine finding in a city like New York. This level of dining at this price point would be nearly impossible there.

If I ever return to Canada, this is a place I would absolutely come back to without hesitation. A truly memorable evening.

LEGENDE - You win some, you lose some! Signing off a wonderful vacation with a disappointing Michelin 1* experience! Sigh!

Packed with some wonderful culinary experiences, spirit lifting vistas, sights & scenery & most of all, abundance of cherished loving, family bonding. My abbreviated food crawl during the past week has been most memorable & precious. Sadly, our last meal at the Michelin 1* Legende in Quebec City added an unexpected sour note to our otherwise splendid food crawl.

When dining out in upscale restaurants, one of the most despised things I dislike encountering is one that involves being charged a hefty price for the meal but still feeling hungry whilst paying the bill!

Do not get me wrong, the food at Legende was actually quite creative, unique, visually appealing, tasty & enjoyable. Although in some areas, the chefs were a bit heavy handed with the salt ( the tomato dish ). Sadly, a satisfactory end result was not fulfilled largely due to the miscalculation of the chef's overall menu creation & planning. IMHO, the prime reason & failure that causes the meal's demise of not achieving an acceptable quality/quantity/value ratio was not the use of uncommon & exotic ingredients but rather, the labour intensive elements & in some cases, the presence of overly redundant & irrelevant components which added to the complexity, required down sizing & hence an elevated cost component to the meal. Case in point, our impressive 8 course / $140 tasting menu at Montreal's Buillon Bilk was near flawless, sumptuous & a filling affair. Contrary, our 6 course / $ 135 offering at Legende was stingy & lacking in substance. Appetizer portions were midget one bite hors d'oeuvres size. However, the most absurd was the meat entree course featuring 4 thin slices of stingy, roughly 3oz in total, pieces of meat, gimmickily paired with a bowl of three sauces…..a couple of which are mediocre tasting & totally irrelevant! This is tantamount to trying to get full by eating a Shawarama but offered without the pita bread & vegetable/pickle condiments ... .only the bare-bone meat pieces garnished with Tahini & some Hummus were served!!

Our tasting menu offered the following courses:

6 East Coast Oysters topped with local Boreal condiments (optional $18 addition)

Hors d'oeuvres:
Wild rose & marigold potato
Crispy tuille, maitake mascarpone cream & Clos de Roches cheese
House made Tofu butter, fermented seaweed, smoked maplewood emulsion

Appetisers:
Seared scallop, celeriac & verbena sauerkraut, beurre blanc, lemon verbena oil.
Charcoal grilled tomato, aromatic tomato broth, Cap Tourmente hazelnut condiment

Main course:
Koji-aged beef steak, herb crust, caraway honey, coal & chanterelles sauce, herbs sauce, potato sauce

Palate cleanser & dessert:
Quebec strawberry granita & marigold milk
Honey cake, thuja cone mascarpone creme, haskap sorbet, haskap compote, honey tuille

On the surface, based on the intriguing description, the menu offers so much' potential'.....but sadly?! Sigh!

Thank God for a late night opening place offering Poutine close to our hotel! 😜

The fresh Quebec sourced ingredients were the key to the delightful dishes! The Grand Cru Chablis complimented the meal perfectly ! My special thanks to the wonderful sommelier Caroline who opened a classic Sauterne to crown the evening. As a chocoholic, I missed my fix as they do not have Quebec sourced chocolate… the wonderful Nicaraguan coffee was a wonderful exception .. Thank you for a delightful experience
