I absolutely loved the ramen & it was so filling after a long day! The food was quick to my table, & the staff were helpful. 100% recommend!
We recently visited Chika Ramen Izakaya in Quebec City & had a generally pleasant experience, though with some mixed impressions. It's located in one of the most vibrant streets in Quebec city known for its great food options. The atmosphere stood out right away, with a cozy & stylish vibe that made it a lovely spot to enjoy a meal. The staff were also warm & friendly, which added to the welcoming environment.
When it came to the food, the portions were generous & satisfying, but the dishes themselves felt fairly average. While everything was decent, I found the flavours lacked a certain freshness & the unique touch that can elevate a ramen or izakaya experience. It felt more like standard fare rather than something carefully crafted by the chef.
One thing worth noting is accessibility. The restaurant is located half a level below street level, so you need to walk down a few stairs to enter. This makes it difficult for anyone using a wheelchair or with mobility concerns.
Overall, Chika Ramen Izakaya is a pleasant place to spend an evening, thanks to its ambiance & friendly service, but the food leaves room for improvement. A solid four stars.
Food comes out very slow. We wait about 30 mins on Civic Monday for ramen to come out.
The Sama fish was delicious, but all the 3 ramen broth we ordered were a huge disappointment. The broth was shallow & flat.
I was looking for a ramen & had a go on Chika. The kimchi was delicious but spicy (I love it but some people don't)
I had the pork broth with chicken ramen. It was a generous portion. The broth was tasty & the egg delicious.
This place is not authentic. Tonkotsu pork ramen is probably the best. The shabu shabu is ok. It has beef, tofu, corn, Chinese cabbage, mushrooms, daikon radish, & half an egg. The beef is very chewy. Other non-meat ingredients are ok. It comes with rice. Flavor wise is good. The service is ok. One of the cups are super greasy. & they didn't serve the dishes the right way. Anyway, not too amazed with this place. But as there are not many Asian restaurants nearby, so it's not bad.
