The bus picked us up in Old Quebec City at the Fontaine de Tourny, we drove approximately 3 hours to Charlevoix. The scenery was beautiful, so picturesque. We stopped along the way to purchase snacks, took pictures by a lake. The boat was impressive & the whales were awesome. We saw Beluga & Fin Whales, seals & loons. We also went up to the Fjords of Saguenay & saw a waterfall - spectacular! The guide & bus driver were knowledgeable & personable. I loved this tour! I have done a few whale watching tours off the coast of Vancouver Island & thought the experience here in Quebec was just as impressive.
This is a quality trip that provides in 90 minutes a different perspective on Quebec City. It was a clear fall day with great views of the city & surrounding foliage. Those providing negative reviews need to keep in mind it is a boat trip up & down the river with a clear narration to what you are seeing. Remember it is a boat & so if you have a walker it could be difficult to board. The crew was fantastic helping older passengers to the shore down the gangplank. David, the narrator provided well thought out descriptions of the sights & a historical perspective to give context to what we were seeing. His voice was clear & definitely bilingual. In fact he didn't try to be funny & trite but rather clearly told us about the unique aspects of what we were seeing. Clean washrooms & indoor seating was available. My wife & I would definitely recommend this cruise. In the summer this cruise would be busy but in the fall there was plenty of available seats with many passengers. Thank you for a great experience! We will be back when we swing by this way again!
Loved the cruise. We did see some sprays & a bit of a breach & tail which was exciting. However there are only so many things places on the boat to see a 360 degree view. The TOP or maybe at the front. If you're at the back , inside or on either now or stern sides you won't see what's in front of the boat or what's on the other side There would be an announcement constantly that a sighting was a 9 o clock or 11 o clock but we were on the OTHER SIDE ( 3 o clock or 5 o'clock ) & then you would try to shift to other side but then they would change direction & drive towards it. So then it was 12 o'clock. & most of the boat then couldn't see it. That was the only complaint.
Took a 2pm tour. The cruise itself was satisfactory. It's a nice boat ride. The picture in the advertisement is somewhat misleading, as it appears that the boat gets much closer to the Montmorency falls than it actually does. The falls are actually quite far in the distance. So if you're expecting to get as close as it depicts in the advertisement, you will be disappointed. The guide did a good job recounting historical events & is knowledgeable. Scenery is nice & the crew are helpful.
4.5 stars. Very pleasant & informative 90-minute cruise. Goes fairly close to Montmorency falls (remember, this is not the Maid of the Mist like in Niagara Falls). Narrator,'Louis Jolliet' was in costume & gave an excellent talk, even came around the decks to ask if we had any questions. Staff very friendly. I would recommend sitting on starboard (right) side since narration tends to focus on what's on the right side of the boat. Great views of the Old City. P.S. 'iron' is pronounced'eye urn', not'eye run' (sorry, I'm an English teacher).
