Fun atmosphere (the toilets are outrageous!) & the food is thoughtful & well-prepared. My daughter & I shared the poutine maison with the garniture de moment, the Tourtière & the tarte au sirop d'érable & all three were very good. I only do not give 5 starts because the service was a little forgetful if well-meaning.

Nous arrivons dans le restaurant : presque vide (seulement 5 tables prises, une quinzaine vides). Le serveur nous offre une petite table dans le passage & courant d'air ... nous lui demandons poliment si nous pouvons être installés à une autre table, il refuse. Nous insistons & lui montrons une table identique un peu en recul. Finalement, il accepte de nous y assoir (pourquoi discuter autant? Il y a 15 tables vides & certains clients des 5 tables occupées étaient installés sur des tables de 4 alors qu'ils ne sont que 2 ... aucun sens).
Nous choisissons la poutine de la Poutine Week (qui était correcte. Un peu petite à mon goût mais intéressante sur les saveurs). Le serveur ne nous amène même pas d'eau, uniquement des boissons payantes. Nous commandons des desserts (qui sont plus gros que ma poutine ... j'aurais préféré l'inverse).
À l'addition, je sors un coupon-cadeau de 50$ utilisable au restaurant. & là le serveur (qui avait juste avant failli faire tomber mon verre en voulant me débarrasser, décidément) me dit "on ne peut pas prendre ton coupon pendant la poutine week" ... pardon ? Sur le coupon, c'est uniquement indiqué qu'on ne peut pas l'utiliser les jours fériés, il n'y a rien d'indiqué concernant la Poutine week. J'ai beau lui montrer mon coupon, il refuse sans même s'excuser ou aller parler à un manager pour s'assurer de l'information. Mais depuis le début, on voyait bien qu'il se fichait de son travail (il retournait sans cesse rigoler avec ses collègues en cuisine).
Au final, j'ai payé 72$ pour deux poutines minuscules, un dessert chacun & un café qu'on a partagé + un soda. & il fallait rajouter un pourboire !.
Le service était très mauvais (votre serveur est impoli & se fichait royalement de son travail ou ses clients). Je travaille dans un hôtel alentour & je sais que je ne vous recommanderai plus (dans le Vieux-Québec, il y a plein de bons restaurants qui traitent bien leurs clients pour un prix équivalent).
This restaurant was recommended by Canadian friends & it was a great local experience - the food, the music & atmosphere were all festive, especially the table of locals drinking bottomless mimosas! My friends & I had split pea soup & poutine - I'd definitely recommend the poutine - it was amazing. The service was also fun - multiple servers who were friendly & funny. This is a casual spot that really captured the essence of Quebec cuisine & the friendliness of it's people. It's a bit loud (because it's popular & crowded), so if you want a quiet meal, this may not be the place for you.

Fantastic experience at La Buche!! My husband, my 2 children & I had dinner here last night. The staff were over the top with their service & hospitality, & the food was amazing!!! They started us out with a complimentary dish of pork rinds drizzled with delicious maple sauce. My husband had the Pâté au Saumon & I had the Tourtière both of which were amazing & memorable - better than home cooked. They had a selection of local alcoholic beverages that paired very well with our dishes.
They are very family friendly, my kids had the poutine & LOVED it!! They even had maple taffy on ice that they let the kids roll onto the sticks themselves!
I strongly recommend this restaurant if you want to experience Québécois cuisine at its finest!! I would definitely return!!
Food was great but the service was not. Music was way too loud for a restaurant. The poutine of the day was described by server as poutine with ground pork. When asked for more details were told exact same thing. Ordered it anyway & it was a delicious dish with a maple whiskey glazed pork.
Nous avons pris le menu pour 4 & nous nous sommes gavés! Le pâté chinois est formidable! Tartare de cerf, Poutine, saumon fumé... & tellement plus encore. Un vrai régal! Le décor & le service étaient relax & sympa. On se sera cru dans une cabane à sucre dans le vieux Quebec... on a même fini ça avec de la tire! Bref, soirée magique... merci!
Went here as part of a walking food tour of the city. Looked good so we decided to have dinner one night. Great atmosphere & food. We shared the sample platter of rabbit wings, tartare, smoked salmon & meatball pies; excellent! We then shared the poutine of the day with ground pork, also excellent. Great experience & service. Definitely what we were looking for after a long day of walking & sightseeing.
Plats très généreux, il faut y aller en ayant très faim. J'ai pris le jambon à la bière sur Poutine, ce plat excellent peut être partagé à 2. Ambiance chaleureuse & décor typique.
Beau restaurant, belle ambiance. Nos sommes allés dans le cadre de la Poutine Week & j'ai cependant été déçu de constater que nos poutines étaient tièdes & le fromage, sec.
