Review Summary

Le Cochon Dingue is widely praised for its beautiful location near the Plains of Abraham, friendly and professional staff, and consistently delicious food across breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. While the majority of guests enjoy a welcoming atmosphere, generous portions, and high-quality meals, some reviews mention occasional inconsistencies regarding service speed, noise levels, or specific dish temperatures. Many patrons appreciate the family-friendly environment and the variety of Quebec-inspired dishes, though a few visitors noted frustrations with table availability, menu item shortages, or limited options for specific dietary restrictions. Despite these isolated concerns, the restaurant remains a popular destination for both locals and travelers seeking a reliable and enjoyable dining experience.

We finished our trip to Quebec City with a family meal here on a recommendation from a local. We came to this location to avoid the busy ones in the old city. It was a good idea- we were served right away & had excellent service throughout our meal.

The menu has lots of choices which satisfied everyone. The prices are reasonable for what we had. A nice experience for all of us for good value.

Some favourites: the steak with the mustard sauce & the Orecchiette with wild mushrooms. The picky eater said the Spaghetti magnifico was the best pasta he has ever had.

It is located in the lobby of a hotel, but that wasn't a problem for us. If you want more of a small restaurant experience, the old city locations may work better for you.

Merci

We came for breakfast. The food was over all decent. The service was polite but not the most attentive. Needed to ask for coffee refills, syrup, etc. Waiter/server took a long time between returning to table / checking in for my liking. It's a place I could reccomended for an average or slightly better than average breakfast. Decent selection of many different dishes or variations. I did enjoy the philly cheese steak benidict.

We decided to walk up the Grande Allee on our last night in Quebec. We heard about this restaurant chain & decided to try something different than all the more touristy gourmet places. It was a nice relaxing atmosphere on a slow Tuesday night. We shared a French onion soup & the steak frites followed by crème brulee. The soup came out cold & the crème brûlée was not great because it came out of a refrigerator & the usually hot crunchy caramel coating was cold. All in all, it was a good value since it came as part of a full meal package that was fairly priced. We enjoyed walking back down the Grand Allee & would love to try other restaurants in this area.
