About

The great story of a small bistro... Like a treasure buried in the heart of Faubourg St-Jean, a really well-kept secret ... the story of The Hobbit. This small, unpretentious bistro, is a reflection of the character of Tolkien, it carries with it the greatness of a story whose echo is still heard today at the cafe. Over time, it became the place where culinary delights come together in an ambiance worthy of a warm and cozy home. But beware, behind that familiar face, between the stones of this old house lurk ghosts that give The Hobbit that "je ne sais quoi" and make it a place apart from all others.

Accueil très ordinaire

Pressées par le temps
Même pas pu avoir de desserts car la cuisine était fermée
Dommage car la nourriture est super bonne

We loved our dinner at Le Hobbit. The food was fresh, all homemade & everything we tried was so delicious. It was creatively prepared & presented without being too pretentious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm & friendly & included couples, groups & families. Although our server made a mistake with our order he did everything he could to correct his error & the quality of the food made us forget there was a problem! While everything we had was really great my favorite was a light maple mouse that was part of our chocolate dessert. The waiter said it was a creation of their pastry chef & was made from a light goat cheese, wine & maple syrup. Wonderful texture, not too sweet & very satisfying. We will recommend Le Hobbit to our food-loving friends traveling to Quebec in a couple of weeks.

Great food & service. Risotto was amazing, dessert was excellent & the waiter was really helpful in choosing a local beer. I would definitely go back.

We didnt order appetizers because we quickly noticed that the entres were a good size. My son had the burger & enjoyed it right down to the fresh cut fries. My husband loved his lamb & wanted to order more bread to soak up the last of the crab sauce. My halibut was perfectly cooked & the crustacean oil added a tasty flavoring. The plate was light on carbs with lots of vegetables another plus in my mind but the sauce on top of the halibut & the sauce on the asparagus were unnecessary competition for the delicate fish flavor. It was a disappointing combination. The chocolate pie dessert was excellent as was the creme brulee.

After a day of shopping we were looking to get away from the crowds when we stumbled on this neighborhood gem. We started with the charcuterie & cheese which was superb & two of us had the special lamb shank over goat cheese mashed potatoes & we cleaned our plates. The other person in our party had the buffalo cheek risotto & he enjoyed it thoroughly. We were too stuffed for dessert but saw many items we would like to come back for. A great find here!
