About

The great story of a small bistro... Like a treasure buried in the heart of Faubourg St-Jean, a really well-kept secret ... the story of The Hobbit. This small, unpretentious bistro, is a reflection of the character of Tolkien, it carries with it the greatness of a story whose echo is still heard today at the cafe. Over time, it became the place where culinary delights come together in an ambiance worthy of a warm and cozy home. But beware, behind that familiar face, between the stones of this old house lurk ghosts that give The Hobbit that "je ne sais quoi" and make it a place apart from all others.

Fantastic food, incredible flavors & sauces. Highly recommend to try Grand-maman's recipe (?) of blood pudding with porcini mushrooms. Pros: no ac & they serve lukewarm water with no ice when it's 33C outside. Still, a great gastronomic experience!

Love this restaurant! The food is incredible 😋 . The waiter took his time to explain everything about the plate. Very cozy atmosphere. Also, I was informed they change the menu every 6 weeks or so to keep it fresh & use seasonal ingredients. Highly recommend!!

We had no booking for this restaurant & was lucky to get a table for our early dinner at 5.45pm. The restaurant had a very cosy ambience with perfect lighting & background music. We were greeted warmly by our waitress Karel who introduced the 3 course menu & answered any questions on the menu. I ordered the soft shell crab to start, roast pork belly as a main & the open sesame for dessert. The starter was two pieces of soft shell crab, cooked perfectly with the right amount of flavouring accompanied by fennel cooked three ways. Very tasty & recommended if you are a fan of soft shell crab. Main was roast pork belly accompanied by Parisian gnocchi & parsnip purée. The pork belly & the sauce it was served in went extremely well with the purée & gnocchi as they balanced out the flavour of the sauce perfectly. Lastly, finished with the orange panna cotta with sesame ice cream. The flavours were intricate & very well layered inside the cake. A great way to finish our meal indeed! Both Sylvie & Karel looked after us extremely well. Service was immaculate & made our visit here at the restaurant a 5⭐️ experience! Thanks to the whole team at Le Hobbit for a wonderful meal!

Le Hobbit was one of the best meals-from start to finish-we've ever eaten. We started with two appetizers... pickled mushrooms & a dish of roasted carrots with pressed bread & lobster sauce. The presentation of the carrot dish was gorgeous but the taste blew us away. One of us ordered the fish of the day & the other a Cornish chicken. Both plates were scraped clean. Although we were pretty full, we ordered dessert simply to see how they would end such a great experience. They did not disappoint (the carrot cake was amazing!) Our waitress was friendly, warm & really fun. I highly recommend it & would make a trip to Quebec City again just for those carrots!
