This small, unpretentious bistro, is a reflection of the character of Tolkien, it carries with it the greatness of a story whose echo is still heard today at the cafe. We chose this restaurant due to its proximity to our hotel (Hilton) & the positive on-line reviews. Our experience was just so-so. It started off well. We were warmly greeted & given a table for two by the window. Our waiter was a loud energetic guy who gave us some but not all of his attention. After taking our orders, he spent the rest of the evening chatting loudly with two other tables of what appeared to be acquaintances. He provided a tasting menu to one table & when I asked about it, he explained he was doing something special for some friends. After our appetizers (salmon tartare & beet salad), we waited over an hour for our mains (wapiti & Icelandic cod). No real explanation given for the delay. The food was tasty but nothing special. We've dined many times in Quebec & have always been wowed. Not this time.
