About

The great story of a small bistro... Like a treasure buried in the heart of Faubourg St-Jean, a really well-kept secret ... the story of The Hobbit. This small, unpretentious bistro, is a reflection of the character of Tolkien, it carries with it the greatness of a story whose echo is still heard today at the cafe. Over time, it became the place where culinary delights come together in an ambiance worthy of a warm and cozy home. But beware, behind that familiar face, between the stones of this old house lurk ghosts that give The Hobbit that "je ne sais quoi" and make it a place apart from all others.

My wife & I visited on our honeymoon. The place was charming, with gorgeous art on the walls that welcomes you in. The staff were very helpful & provided great recommendations which resulted in a very memorable brunch experience. Our server was fun & playful, but in a professional & courteous way. The food was beautiful, creative, & most importantly, delicious. I had the confit squash with a poached egg while my wife had the eggs Benedict with a carrot purre. We had deviled eggs on the side as well. They display their Michelin recommendation proudly & they should. I would advise anyone looking for a cute brunch date spot to stop in.

The weight staff was excellent. The food was outstanding! When we walked in, we were asked if we had reservations which we didn't. But that didn't matter. We still got a good seat.

We decided almost on a whim to dine at Le Hobbit on the first evening of our visit to Quebec in early September 2025. What an excellent whim! The service from all staff with whom we interacted was outstanding - friendly, knowledgeable & professional. The food was a knock-out - every course had a'wow' factor. The wine list was well-constructed & not, to our observation, overpriced. It was easily the best meal we enjoyed during our three-week visit to Eastern Canada.

Le boudin était servi avec soin & l'équilibre sucré salé des garnitures était parfait ! La tartinade de courge était sublime. Le service sympathique & efficace & l'ambiance propice aux conversations. Un petit bijou à découvrir!

One of our best meals ever. We had the best experience in Le Hobbit, from the moment we walked in without a reservation, Marjorie with a smile made an effort & found us a table. We couldn't have had a better experience, & both Marjorie & Sylvie were fantastic with their recommendations & explanations. The food was out of this world delicious, such a combination of flavors with great taste,…from the foie gras, to the carrot doughnut, roasted eggplant appetizer to the duck confit, everything was outstandingly different, flavorful, & exciting. You can't come up with the flavor combinations & the experiences they bring to your palate. The pannacota to finish was to die fo

Easy to tell why they earned a Michelin Star! The breakfast food & service was really on another level, without feeling too pretentious; bring your kids, they won't feel out of place & you can order them custom smaller dishes so you won't break the bank. Want milk for your espresso? They'll bring it to you freshly steamed with perfect microfoam. Wow!
