The great story of a small bistro... Like a treasure buried in the heart of Faubourg St-Jean, a really well-kept secret ... the story of The Hobbit. This small, unpretentious bistro, is a reflection of the character of Tolkien, it carries with it the greatness of a story whose echo is still heard today at the cafe. Over time, it became the place where culinary delights come together in an ambiance worthy of a warm and cozy home. I really wanted to love this place based on Google photos, their website, & prior reviews, but it was a disappointment. (We only tried Le Hobbit for brunch, so this review only applies to that. Perhaps, the dinner is better). First, there was only one server, so we waited forever to get drinks, food, our bill etc. Service was very slow & uninviting. Second, the food was subpar, & there was way too much food on the plate. I was surprised by the serving size, & the server never warned me or I would have modified my order. The food quality was average at best. This was by far my least favorite breakfast / brunch during our visit to Quebec City. Finally, we sat for a long time waiting for the server to come back with the pay machine only for him to tell us that we need to take the bill to the bar. I really can't recommend this place, but if you go for brunch, just expect it to be a very average experience & probably not worth the money.

Good & different food - the apple sorbet with cheddar crumble was out of this world. The gnudis were also super flavourful. I found the service to be extremely disappointing & slow. Took forever to order. Would go back again.

Spectacular food & attentive, informative service-- we had the six-course tasting menu (with wine pairing), & everything was exceptional. One course-- with arctic char as the star-- was one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life, no lie. The dessert was wonderfully inventive as well. They were even amenable to making one course substitution for me (as a non-beef eater), which I greatly appreciated. A truly wonderful dining experience!

Excellent mais les plats sont éhontément chers & leur contenu, ridiculement réduits. Exemple: minuscule coquille Saint-Jacques servie sur popcorn!! & « accompagnée » de légumes se réduisant à trois !!! feuilles de salade, un demi radis, deux rondelles minces de carotte & la moitié d'un concombre libanais! 33 $ avant taxes & pourboire!

Nous y sommes arrêté pour le déjeuner.
Excellent service & une assiette à un prix raisonnable.
Nous étions à l'intérieur mais sur le bord d'une fenêtre. Très agréable :)

Tout simplement parfait! Un service chaleureux & des plats succulents, une très belle découverte! Je recommande à tout le monde de s'y arrêter au moins une fois. La cuisine du Hobbit est très inspirée de la cuisine française, l'exécution est parfaite. Les saveurs sont au rendez-vous. On sent une réelle passion chez les personnes qui y travaillent, ça se retranscrit dans l'assiette !
