The great story of a small bistro... Like a treasure buried in the heart of Faubourg St-Jean, a really well-kept secret ... the story of The Hobbit. This small, unpretentious bistro, is a reflection of the character of Tolkien, it carries with it the greatness of a story whose echo is still heard today at the cafe. Over time, it became the place where culinary delights come together in an ambiance worthy of a warm and cozy home. Went to have brunch at this restaurant with some friends. I first ate there in 2018 or 2019 - that time i had eggs benedicts on a parisbrest bread, & it was honestly one of the best eggs benedicts i've had - so i was really excited to go back. Sadly, my experience this time was not great. While the service & atmosphere were excellent, I was very disappointed with the food, as the portions were much smaller than they used to be, & the food was extremely blend (barely any taste in most dishes except maybe the bene-ghetti which had some flavour). Won't be recommending that place anymore... unless they step-up (& they need to step up quite a lot).

Magnifique petit restaurant avec une cuisine créative ! J'y suis allée plusieurs fois & je n'ai jamais été déçue. Les plats comme les desserts sont parfaits pour être partagés.

The server was cool & the food was not bad but the portions were incredibly small which is why the review is 3 star. We ordered the 3 course prix fixe for $45. Appetizer was 4 small bites. Pasta course was 3 pieces of ravioli. Protein course was literally 1 scallop. The only great tasting item was that single scallop. Also we specified no pork but were served a pork blood pudding which had to be sent back.

Ce restaurant avait une belle ambiance mais la nourriture & la service étaient super décevantes. Le temps d'attente pour notre table était presque vingt minutes. Ça faisait plus de vingt minutes avant que quelqu'un vienne prendre notre commande. & on a attendu plus de trente minutes pour notre nourriture qui est arrivée froide. Ça fait plus d'une heure d'attente pour des repas décevants. & notre serveur a même oublié une de nos entrées. Il est presque incroyable qu'on charge plus de 20 $ pour un oeuf poché froid avec du hummus froid. Je ne recommanderais pas ce restaurant.

Fantastic food, incredible flavors & sauces. Highly recommend to try Grand-maman's recipe (?) of blood pudding with porcini mushrooms. Pros: no ac & they serve lukewarm water with no ice when it's 33C outside. Still, a great gastronomic experience!

Un service très sympathique, patient, de bon conseil & efficace. De belles surprises en cuisine & très bien présentées. Toutefois un menu un peu trop restreint du côté des plats principaux. Un bon choix d'entrées .
