The great story of a small bistro... Like a treasure buried in the heart of Faubourg St-Jean, a really well-kept secret ... the story of The Hobbit. This small, unpretentious bistro, is a reflection of the character of Tolkien, it carries with it the greatness of a story whose echo is still heard today at the cafe. Over time, it became the place where culinary delights come together in an ambiance worthy of a warm and cozy home. But beware, behind that familiar face, between the stones of this old house lurk ghosts that give The Hobbit that "je ne sais quoi" and make it a place apart from all others.
Le Hobbit is widely regarded as a charming and atmospheric destination in Quebec City, celebrated for its creative and flavorful approach to traditional and local cuisine. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its innovative menus, standout brunch offerings, and beautifully presented dishes, with highlights often including the unique foie gras preparations, fresh seafood, and inventive dessert combinations. While the service is frequently described as friendly, enthusiastic, and professional, some guests have noted occasional inconsistencies in pacing or attention. Despite varying opinions on pricing and portion sizes, the majority of diners characterize their experience as memorable and highly recommend the establishment for its cozy ambiance and high quality, making it a must-visit location for many exploring the area.
Food was delicious. Portions are meant to be shared, so advised to order 2 dishes per person. Server & cook were very friendly & attentive to our allergies.

Had an extraordinary New Year's eve dinner here. Eight course tasting menu with wine pairings, & every course was extraordinary. From the caviar & scallops to the lobster tails & veal, each bite was exquisite, & the wine pairings were perfection. Our server was friendly & very knowledgeable, & we never felt rushed. There is no doubt that we will revisit Le Hobbit next time we are in Quebec. A truly remarkable meal to finish 2023!
We had the most amazing experience. Fixed menu, with corresponding wines, 8 courses, 3 1/2 hours. Service was great, the waiter asked us multiple times whether we wanted to proceed or wait for a minute between courses. Of course, we waited. Absolutely no rush we loved it. Very interesting menu, expertly executed. Many thanks to the team at Le Hobbit for an unforgettable New Years Eve dinne
We had a splendid experience. Went to Le Hobbit for the New Years Eve fixed 8 course menu. Very interesting dishes, like raw scallops with burnt leeks, charcoal battered frog legs with foie gras, veal tongue with a variation of tomatoes, or the fig tip ice cream. Flawlessly executed. Service was great, too, with no rush ( though people were piling up at the door, waiting for their tables ). Thanks to the Le Hobbit Team for an extraordinary evening, we will remember for a long time ❤️
Good job.
