About

Founded in 1978 by Jacques Fortier and Jean-Luc Boulay, Le Saint-Amour has become an iconic institution in Quebec City, embodying the influence of Quebec gastronomy. Offering haute French cuisine inspired by exceptional regional products, renowned chef Jean-Luc Boulay and his team combine traditional know-how and modern techniques to pay tribute to local producers and offer a gourmet, refined and unique gastronomic experience.

Le Saint-Amour is ranked among the top 10 favourite fine dining restaurants in Canada by travellers, according to TripAdvisor (2014, 2015, 2016 and 2020 Travellers' Choice Awards). Our wine cellar , housing over 15,000 carefully selected bottles, is also among the top 10 wine selections in Canada, with prestigious vintages from all over the world. Over the years, we have had the honour of welcoming renowned celebrities, such as Sir Paul McCartney, Sting, Alicia Keys, Johnny Hallyday, Charles Aznavour, and many others, who have chosen Le Saint-Amour during their stay in Quebec City.

Le Saint-Amour was awarded 4 stars by the prestigious Debeur Guide and was crowned Restaurant of the Year in 2011. This recognition is in addition to the many distinctions received by Chef Jean-Luc Boulay : Chevalier de l'Ordre national du Québec in 2024, the highest honorary distinction awarded by the Quebec government, Maître Cuisinier de France, Officier de l'Ordre du Mérite Agricole de France medal, Governor General of Canada's Award for the Arts of the Table, as well as the Prix Hommage Renaud-Cyr. Also recognized for his dedication to passing on his knowledge, Chef Boulay shares his passion with new generations, notably as a permanent judge on the show Les Chefs! , broadcast on Radio-Canada since 2010 and with 13 seasons to date.

An essential address in Old Quebec for local gastronomes and gourmet travelers, Le Saint-Amour embodies excellence and the quest for a culinary experience that is both surprising and unforgettable on a daily basis.

We have eaten here every year we have visited & this makes 20. The Saint-Amour never fails to deliver in food, service & atmosphere. The wine list will make your head spin. If you are looking for one special night out, this is the place. The foie gras temptation cannot be missed.

Excellent in all respects. At no time did we feel rushed & the experience was reminiscent of the days when dining out was an occasion that occupied the entire evening. Didn't leave until 10.45 or thereabouts from a 7pm booking. Wine suggestion from sommelier on point & covered the degustation menu. Remy Breton grower champagne was yeasty & delicious.

Still one of the very best in Quebec City. We celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary & all was wonderful as usual. Always excellent food, preparation, presentation & service. One of the best wine lists in the city. Highly recommend & we will return again on our next visit to QC.

One of the best meals we've had in our lives. We started with the scallop caviar ravioli. Note, this is just 1 ravioli so it's ideal for 1 person. The scallop was perfectly cooked & the caviar complimented the sauce perfectly. For our main dishes I had the lamb which came with a side of filet mignon. Hands down the best lamb I've ever had. My fiancé got the halibut with an almond type crust. It was also one of the best fish meals we've ever tried. For wine, I recommend the Bendol Chateau de Pibarnon - it was a dry rosé & it went well with every dish we had. You must check Le Saint-Amour out for a truly fine dining experience. We highly recommend.

FRIDAY, june 16, 2023. very limited menu with odd selections. we opted for the 7 course tasting menu, $155.00 pp. very disappointing. our worst dining experience of the weekend. amuse bouche was a small meatball in a bread coating over a slice of carrot. Please excuse the everyday wording of the food. i am not a foodie, but i am calling it the way we saw it. i am sure there was a lot of work in preparing these dishes, & the explanation & presentation was excellent. you could tell the servers & staff were passionate about their craft. second course was foie gras with toast points. 3rd course was three small (quarter sized) scallops with a slice of leek. fourth course was waygo beef (raw) with micro greens & parsnip puree. A pallet cleanser was served. rasberry sorbet with an alcohol base. the alcohol was distracting & detracted from the serving (in our opinion) the main course was a pork chop with mussell (1 musssell) greens & 3 orange slices. the flavors & textures of this dish did not go well together. best part of the meal was a cream puff with ice cream. they also offered a wine pairing for $ $135.00 pp. (we did not take). if you are a foodie, maybe this is a place you would enjoy, but we would not return.
