About

Founded in 1978 by Jacques Fortier and Jean-Luc Boulay, Le Saint-Amour has become an iconic institution in Quebec City, embodying the influence of Quebec gastronomy. Offering haute French cuisine inspired by exceptional regional products, renowned chef Jean-Luc Boulay and his team combine traditional know-how and modern techniques to pay tribute to local producers and offer a gourmet, refined and unique gastronomic experience.

Le Saint-Amour is ranked among the top 10 favourite fine dining restaurants in Canada by travellers, according to TripAdvisor (2014, 2015, 2016 and 2020 Travellers' Choice Awards). Our wine cellar , housing over 15,000 carefully selected bottles, is also among the top 10 wine selections in Canada, with prestigious vintages from all over the world. Over the years, we have had the honour of welcoming renowned celebrities, such as Sir Paul McCartney, Sting, Alicia Keys, Johnny Hallyday, Charles Aznavour, and many others, who have chosen Le Saint-Amour during their stay in Quebec City.

Le Saint-Amour was awarded 4 stars by the prestigious Debeur Guide and was crowned Restaurant of the Year in 2011. This recognition is in addition to the many distinctions received by Chef Jean-Luc Boulay : Chevalier de l'Ordre national du Québec in 2024, the highest honorary distinction awarded by the Quebec government, Maître Cuisinier de France, Officier de l'Ordre du Mérite Agricole de France medal, Governor General of Canada's Award for the Arts of the Table, as well as the Prix Hommage Renaud-Cyr. Also recognized for his dedication to passing on his knowledge, Chef Boulay shares his passion with new generations, notably as a permanent judge on the show Les Chefs! , broadcast on Radio-Canada since 2010 and with 13 seasons to date.

An essential address in Old Quebec for local gastronomes and gourmet travelers, Le Saint-Amour embodies excellence and the quest for a culinary experience that is both surprising and unforgettable on a daily basis.

The food was excellent as usual but the service was not up to par. The pompous & presumptuous waiter & sommelier (Alexandre) was awful. Our experience was most certainly tainted by his presence at our table. I had to reiterate my wine choice three times simply because he would not accept my selection insisting instead on more expensive bottles. My wife & I just felt belittled. Nobody was present to take our coats upon arrival or to return them to us at the end of the evening.

Faites attention Monsieur Boulay c'est votre excellente réputation qui est en jeu!

Le Saint-Amour is pure perfection!! From the service to the delicious food & the beautiful presentation of the food. We also had an amazing bottle of red wine thanks to our sommelier's recommendation. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Our favourite restaurant! It never disappoints. The staff is amazing & the food (menu découverte) with wine pairing is a wonderfully surprising experience at every plate. Can't say enough good things about this place. We will continue to go back.

The food was mostly good. But the 7-course menu was really only 5 courses with an amuse bouche & a palette cleanser. Those should not have been included as courses. Also the Guinea fowl course was served on a very hot plate but the food was cool — not warm & certainly not hot. Our waiter also was not helpful with the wine menu. He steered us to a $240 bottle after tellling us the price range of bottles on the wine menu was $200-500. When I looked at the wine menu online later I saw many bottles under $100. He misled us. I admittedly should have looked at the menu myself, but I expect waitstaff not to lie to me. Overall, this was a very disappointing dining experience.

Excellent food & service. The wine list was overpowering, & hard to deal with on an iPhone, but with the help of our waiter we picked a delightful wine.

Truly unique dinning experience! We chose the 7 course discovery menu with wine parings. Every dish was exquisite. A great way to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary.
