Overall, everything about this place screams'five-star restaurant.' However, I wonder if we were treated differently because we were younger than the regulars. While our waiter & waitress were truly great, the rest of the staff fell short.
There was almost no eye contact, no smiles, & no greetings. We had to refill our own wine glasses & waited so long for the check that we eventually had to stand up & go to the front desk. We even ended up grabbing our own coats from the coat check because the wait was so long. I am 100% sure the servers were doing their absolute best given how busy it was, but it seemed like other staff members weren't doing much to help. For such a high-end establishment, we expected to be treated as such.

Went to Le Saint-Amour in December & unfortunately won't be going back. We were placed in a smaller room to the right of when you walk into the restaurant instead of the main area. However, we weren't the only ones placed there so we decided not to say anything.

Ultimately chose to splurge & get the tasting menu & a bottle of wine but it really wasn't worth it. I think a lot of creativity went into justifying how there are 7 courses (which include a tiny to-go box of cookies at the end), but the worst part was the service. By 9/9:30 pm on a Saturday night, after we paid & still had wine left, we were the only ones left in this room & our waiter disappeared after collecting the bill. The only staff we saw were the busboys peeking in to see if we were still there. I had to get up twice & go to the coat check for a water refill. However, the main part of the restaurant still had customers & staff working as well. The service during the meal wasn't great either, considering we opted for a multi-course menu.

All in all, I would not recommend going to this restaurant, but if you decide to go do not get the tasting menu & do not let yourself be seated outside the main area. I was surprised this restaurant wasn't anywhere in the Michelin guide, but after this experience I can understand.

Spent $630CA for 2 people & the food was just okay. We ordered the tasting & split a wine pairing. For that price the food needs to be incredible & it just wasn't. It definitely wasn't inventive food. The food was stuffy. Maybe ordering a la carte would have been a better value. To me, it's the most expensive tourist trap I've ever been to.

An experience to remember! My husband enjoyed the scallops as the main course, while I wanted to experience Chef Boulay's squab. Amazing! & if you enjoy fine wines, you will not be disappointed. Worthy of its Michelin recognition 👏

We drove up to Quebec City for 4 days of vacation. We booked a hotel in the upper old city so we could easily walk to all the historic sites.
We researched this hotel from home so we made sure to eat there. We went a little early as we did not have a reservation. We were offered a table in the middle but my wife asked to move. After a short time, the waiter came & moved us to a side table which was much better.
We ordered a variety of dishes but the best was the baby lamb chops. I also had two glasses of a very nice French wine.
This restaurant is owned by celebrity chef Jean Luc Boulay. I highly recommend it if you want delicious food in a spectacular restaurant setting.

The food was excellent, the service was not. Upon entrance to the establishment, there was no one at the host stand & the bartender waved us to come in until someone came to the front. Not sure if it was because we were one of the youngest diners there or did not order wine, but our waiter was barely present at our table throughout our meal even though he was at other tables plenty. It was warm on the walk up to the restaurant & we poured our own water after the first glass & no one offered to refill it when our bottle was done. The other server who helped dropped off our food for appetizers & entrees did a good job of describing the dishes. The zucchini appetizer was beautifully plated & very innovative in terms of flavor & composition- I have never had an appetizer quite like it before. The lamb entree was delicious & the vegetables were also extremely fresh, pea purée was superb. I think we did not enjoy dessert as much because the lack of service at that point had built up & it took so long for our main waiter to check in & finally bring the dessert menus. After greatly enjoying the food & service at Chez Boulay the night before, we were really looking forward to this meal & learning more about the local cuisine & Nordic food so the experience was not what we expected. The most attentive our waiter was during the meal was when he hovered over my husband to point out the options for tipping.

Jonathon was a very good server. He said that he was just starting at Le Saint-Amour but appeared to be very well seasoned. A woman who worked with him (I forget her name) was also quite adept at her role. The tasting menu was quite good, but not superior, which is why we gave it 4 stars. No complaints really. The wine pairing added an extra dimension to the experience & Jonathon was well-informed about each vintage. We particularly liked the Chateau Lamothe Guignard Sauternes 2016. We visited on a relatively quiet Thursday evening & found the ambiance of the space to be comfortable & welcoming. The final price of $570 (USD) for two people was reasonable for the level of service & the quality of the meal with the wine pairing.

I am going to share my honest review. When we arrived the Maitre D' was very nice & welcoming. He showed us to our table but after 35 min of waiting we had no service. The table to next to ours got up & left. I have no idea what happened but it was like the waiter in our section walked out & never came back. I called over the Maitre D' he then was our server & he did an amazing job. We ordered the tasting menu & wine pairing. The food was good but not the best I had in Quebec City & it was the most expensive coming in at $702 USD for two people. I felt some of the dishes lacked passion & had been tossed together. Maybe we came on an off night not sure the 10th of October 2024. In contrast Chez Muffy we ordered the tasting menu & wine pairing total was $560 USD & overall that was the better experience. The only reason I didn't rate this lower was because the Maitre D' really did everything he could after our waiter walked out. If you go here do not get the tasting menu.

Simply the Best restaurant in Quebec City. Convenient location in the heart of Old Town. Perfect place for any special occasion birthday or anniversary date. The 7 course French tasting menu is superb & offers the best of local meats & fruits. The preparation is exquisite & so delicious. Small portions are just right. Knowledgeable & friendly staff. The main dining room is beautifully decorated like Belle Epoque Paris. With wine, tax (15% in Canada ! ) & tip we spent $535 Canadian which is only about $387 US dollars total for 2 people. Well worth it for such a memorable dinner.
