Les Mauvaises Herbes focuses on plant-based culinary techniques that prioritize seasonal vegetables and bold, herbaceous profiles. The menu highlights creative interpretations of sushi, utilizing unique vegetable preparations to mimic traditional textures and flavor combinations. Diners encounter a variety of rolls, bowls, and small plates that emphasize the natural vibrancy of fresh ingredients rather than reliance on animal products. The preparation process involves precise knife work and thoughtful ingredient pairings to ensure a consistent experience across all offerings. Every component, from house-made sauces to seasoned rice, serves to showcase the versatility of vegan-friendly cuisine. The environment maintains a minimalist aesthetic, allowing the focus to remain entirely on the composition and presentation of the dishes served. This approach provides a clear demonstration of how plant-centric menus achieve complexity through focused technique.
Les Mauvaises Herbes is widely recognized as a standout destination for creative and flavorful vegan cuisine in Québec City, with many guests praising the intentional, high-quality ingredients found in dishes like the tasting menu, arancini, and grilled cheese. While the atmosphere is frequently described as cozy, warm, and inviting, experiences regarding service and portion sizes are mixed; some diners enjoy prompt, friendly, and attentive care, while others report long wait times, occasional errors, or concerns regarding the value and consistency of the portions. Overall, the restaurant remains a highly recommended spot for both vegans and omnivores looking for a unique and memorable dining experience.
Great vegan food! This is a small, casual restaurant with a short menu. But everything on the menu is vegan, & every offering is fabulous. Beautiful presentation, creative & delicious meals. We had the watermelon gazpacho; the asparagus cream, mushroom & seasonal fruits; & the fried gnocchi & coco-curry. Each dish was more delicious than the other. & the staff were lovely; so helpful & friendly. A short & easy walk from Vieux Quebec. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Quebec City.
Getting the taste of vegan food now. It's more than just experimental, it's about seeking the best in food variations, between complementary & contrasting tastes. Sometimes, it's best not to know the fine details of the dishes. We got good tastes at Les Mauvaises Herbes, backed by excellent service. New menu, we were told. Liked the open kitchen approach.
Proprios sympathiques. Ambiance décontractée. Adresse à retenir!

Amazing food, & it's ALL vegan (& this review is from a non vegan!!) Don't be fooled, looks closed from outside because windows are dark but has a great atmosphere inside, super friendly waiter who remembered me & my family the second time we came. Every dish we tried is great, even better than non vegan versions I've had. Try the calamari, ramen, & sushi (which is so unique) Menu is changing this summer can't wait to see the new dishes!
I am not a vegetarian & vegan & to be honest, if I was at a sushi restaurant I would've never picked the vegan option. I have to say that I was quite surprised. If you are a meat eater like me, you should still definitively visit this place if you have the chance because I tell you, their stuff if fire. Each individual piece is carefuly crafted & it creates a wonderful gastronomical experience. My girlfriend who lives in Montreal said she never tasted sushis this good. I agree with her. Anyway, good ambiance, good price, good service & most of all awesome food.
