Sapristi St-Jean centers its culinary identity on the preparation of artisanal thin-crust pizzas cooked in high-temperature ovens to achieve a blistered, chewy texture. The menu emphasizes Italian-inspired bistro staples, utilizing fresh ingredients to assemble classic pasta dishes and crisp salads that highlight regional agricultural output. Guests encounter a bustling environment defined by an open, industrial aesthetic that keeps the focus squarely on the active kitchen and the preparation of shared platters. The selection of dishes prioritizes technical consistency, ranging from creamy burrata appetizers to savory tomato-based sauces infused with aromatic herbs. This establishment functions as a primary destination for those seeking straightforward Mediterranean flavors presented in a modern, communal setting. The workflow facilitates rapid service while maintaining the structural integrity of every crust and sauce configuration provided to diners.
Sapristi St-Jean is a popular spot in Old Quebec known for its charming atmosphere, stylish decor, and delightful outdoor patios. Many guests praise the delicious pizza, pasta, and salmon tartare, often highlighting the quality of the wood-fired dishes and the availability of gluten-free options. While the service is frequently described as friendly, attentive, and professional, some visitors have reported inconsistent timing, occasional lapses in communication, or challenges during busy periods. Pricing is generally considered reasonable for the area, though opinions on portion sizes and seasoning occasionally vary. Despite these mixed experiences regarding speed and service attentiveness, the restaurant remains a recommended destination for those looking for a flavorful meal in a welcoming, lively environment.
This place has incredible food & excelllent service! We had the Mac & cheese & beef, & the Di Mare Pasta, & we definitely loved them! Highly recommended!
I recently visited Sapristi Resto Bar with high hopes, but unfortunately, our experience was a letdown. We ordered three pizzas: the Margarita, Four Cheese, & Greek. Sadly, the Margarita & Four Cheese pizzas were particularly disappointing. The Greek pizza was the only decent one among the three. The food overall failed to impress, & we felt that our money was wasted. The service was average, & the atmosphere was unremarkable. To top it off, the pizzas were overpriced & undersized.
We absolutely loved Sapristi on our recent trip to Quebec City. It was a rainy, miserable night out. We were turned away from another restaurant because we didn't have a reservation (didn't think we needed one on a Thursday night). We happened to pass this beautiful little restaurant, decided to try our luck. Around 7pm, we didn't have to wait. We got the best table in the house with the MOST amazing server, Felix. The food was amazing. We started with a couple of cocktails with arancini, & salmon tartare. So delicious. Then we had a bottle of barolo with our pasta dishes. We ended with a coffee drink & cheesecake. What made the night truly memorable was our server. While our French is very rusty, Felix made us feel like he was serving his family. He took the time to talk to us & show us what true hospitality is. We mentioned to him that his parents raised a wonderful young man. To be able to relate to many age demographics makes him a truly special human. So thank you Felix for making our Thursday rainy day dinner a superb one!

I enjoyed some fresh-tasting pasta with generous servings of parmesan cheese, all at a reasonable price. The arancini appetizer in particular was a delight.
Such a great place. Cozy restaurant with nice atmosphere & great food. We have order Gaspésienne pizza & four cheese. Both were good & service is good too. However, the place is small so if you don't have a reservation you might wait until a table is available
My husband, daughter & I were on vacation & had dinner here. We had burrata, olives & matchstick fries for starters (so good, esp the fries!). For main meal I had the Arrabbiata pasta (good), husband had Neapolitan pizza (really good) & daughter had Mac & cheese (okay). Also had a glass of beer & wine. Service & ambience was excellent. Walking distance from Chateau Frontenac. Would recommend! Don't forget reservations.
