I really enjoyed the french onion soup & pasta. Lovely atmosphere.
Recommend their meatball pasta. It was pretty tasty ☺? Service was friendly.
I had steak & duck confit here.
The duck confit is absolutely amazing, & steak is good too.
But the fries didn't get fried well, & the pasta is not salty enough.
Duo tartare was huge & good. Steak good. Pasta good. escargot was ok. Only downside was old rock music that kept repeating every 20-30minutes.
This place is the pinnacle of well rounded dining. Awesome selection of tasteful rare beer. Food is always very well made. Burgers, high end beef cuts, pastas & pizza. Atmosphere is also top of the food chain. Portions are also very good by 2020+ standards. The only thing they could improve on is wait times. Literally.

What can I say? We have never been to Quebec City before. I did a lot of research & I liked the sound of Bistro 1640 plus we watched a YouTube video. I booked a reservation for my husband's birthday about a month in advance. The restaurant was just a 2 minute walk from Chateau Frontenac & we were placed In a perfect window seat to watch the people stroll by. The waiter was very attentive & knew his menu. My husband chose the menu of the day for $44.00 which consisted of 3 courses, soup, fish & dessert. I had the duck leg with pasta & orange sauce. We each had a glass of wine. Everything was delicious, I only wish there was a little more orange sauce. When my husband's dessert came it was a crème brûlée with a sparkler to celebrate his birthday. Nice touch! with tip the bill came to $160.00. We recommend this restaurant but advise you do need a reservation!
