Review Summary

Café Apotek is widely celebrated as a premier coffee destination in Quebec City, offering an exquisite, minimalist atmosphere that blends Scandinavian aesthetics with the historic character of the area. Visitors consistently praise the exceptional quality of the coffee, noting the use of premium beans and precise preparation techniques, alongside a delicious selection of artisanal pastries such as cardamom buns, canelés, and Basque cheesecake. The staff are frequently described as warm, professional, and knowledgeable, contributing to a welcoming experience. While the space is compact with limited seating and lacks public washroom facilities, many guests find the unique, tranquil environment and high-quality offerings to be well worth the visit for a refined and memorable coffee break.

I very rarely review places. But I recently traveled to Quebec City from Florida & was blown away by this place. Absolute perfection. The cardamom bun was one of the best pastries I've ever had in my life. The Danish breakfast was superb, especially their poppy seed bread. I was skeptical about the matcha since they said it was pre-sweetened but it turned out to be extremely good & high-quality. Incredible canele & pan suisse too. On our way out, we asked the barista for help getting to our next location & he was very friendly & took the time to offer advice about where to go. Great vibes & long line which speaks to its popularity. I wish I lived closer!

This spot is very quiet & hidden away but so worth seeking out. The coffee was amazing & the pastries are both beautiful & delicious. The only reason I'm not including a picture is because I was too excited to eat it.

Great Way to Start the Day! Coffee & Latte was yummy but the pastries are the start of the show. So good & made with care & professionalism. But as we know quality comes at a cost. We spent over $35 for this picture...

Coffee & pastries are both amazing. Best coffee shop I've tried in Canada.

Cannot recommend this little place enough. World-class coffee (saying this as someone that became a coffee snob living in Melbourne), great pastries (the almond pain au chocolat is 10/10), classy interior design & music giving me the vibes!

The female barista was so polite & lovely to us! She even very kindly let my partner wash his hands behind the counter after eating. The pastries were excellent, although I wish they could have been warmed a bit. We did feel a bit rushed by the other employee. But the wait wasn't very long at all & the chai my partner got was very well spiced. My cappuccino was perfect too.

A café that reminds me of home in Toronto. As a tourist, I was pleasantly surprised that such an atmospheric café could be hiding in Old Quebec! The service was lovely & the detailed care put into our drinks was fascinating to watch. The canele were very well made & perfectly soft inside, but kept the burnt aroma around it. Additionally, brioche bun was filled with this delicious mascarpone-like cream. It's important to note however that there are no prices listed for the pastries. Overall, not too bad!
