But I recently traveled to Quebec City from Florida & was blown away by this place. Absolute perfection. The cardamom bun was one of the best pastries I've ever had in my life. The Danish breakfast was superb, especially their poppy seed bread. I was skeptical about the matcha since they said it was pre-sweetened but it turned out to be extremely good & high-quality. Incredible canele & pan suisse too. On our way out, we asked the barista for help getting to our next location & he was very friendly & took the time to offer advice about where to go. Great vibes & long line which speaks to its popularity. I wish I lived closer!
The setting of this cafe is super aesthetically pleasing & amazing to enjoy a nice cup of coffee. I believe this place is great at hot drinks & latte art. I did try the iced latte with maple syrup & it was delicious. Not too sweet, & perfect amount of coffee flavor. It had one ice cube & came in a glass cup to dine in. I really enjoyed the jazz/house music they played & how artistic & modern this cafe was with a warehouse/minimalistic vibe. There wasn't even a sign or name of the place, we just walked right in.
Cannot recommend this little place enough. World-class coffee (saying this as someone that became a coffee snob living in Melbourne), great pastries (the almond pain au chocolat is 10/10), classy interior design & music giving me the vibes!
Such a cool place. We loved the design & vibe of the place as much as the great tasting coffee! The long, curve-shaped marble table top with seating for many people is a great use of space but also gives a nice flow to the place. The atmosphere is very organic with earth tones, plants, beautiful ceramic cups & chill music. It's a great place to go by yourself or connect with others. The service is warm & friendly too! We visited Quebec City from Toronto. We love the people, French culture & food of Quebec City. ⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐?⭐?
As soon as I walked in, they did not say hi at all. They just told me'shut the door' in French -without saying bonjour or anything. The baristas gave off very snobby vibes & did were very discriminative about the fact that we only spoke English, & refused to be nice to or speak to us like a human. This is a pretty touristy area & they should do better in terms of treating customers if they expect tourists to come in a TOURIST area.
Friendly baristas, excellent pour-over & matcha latte, & an amazing canelé-crispy outside, moist inside. Great vibe!
I would say the coffee here is'good', not great which I expected based on the prices & overall vibe the place is trying to give off. That being said it is one of the better places in the city to get a coffee. I would rate it 4 stars based on the coffee & service - again it would've probably been 5 if the prices matched what you receive, however, I would also subtract another due to the fact there are no toilets here please put a warning at the door - I had to rush through my coffee & pastry & cut my time short.
Café Apotek is a cozy little gem tucked away in Old Québec's Vieux-Port, known for its minimalist Nordic vibe & top-tier coffee. Housed in a charming 19th-century building, it serves up expertly crafted espresso drinks & matcha lattes, along with beautiful house-made pastries like cardamom buns, mascarpone-raspberry rolls, & Basque cheesecake. The space is small with limited seating & no restroom, so it's better suited for a quick coffee break than a long hangout-but the quality & attention to detail make it a worthwhile stop for anyone who appreciates a great café experience.
Quiet, cozy vibes for a quiet, cozy morning. 🫶 only a few options on the menu, but everything was super tasty, the basque cheesecake was so good- thank you!
