Café Krieghoff, is a wonderful little boutique hotel centrally located with a decent price for the location. After a long drive & late work shift the night before I slept great a solid 9 hours bed was very comfortable. We awoke the next morning to go downstairs to a great breakfast the homemade bagel with melted Swiss cheese & house jam was amazing with the Americano coffee. Lounge area was great also nice clean bathroom/shower. Also appreciated the books in the lounge & room nice to have some historical references of the area.
When in Quebec city, do not miss an opportunity to visit Cartier St., its specialty stores & restaurant. If you are looking for great place to lay your hat & sleep the night off then Krieghoff Café & hotel is a well chosen destination.
This is a wonderful boutique hotel in an amazing location on what must be the most interesting & vibrant street in the city. The breakfast was terrific, & service was very cheerful & welcoming. Rooms are for people who can climb stairs.
We chose this hotel because of the location, price & reviews. I can honestly say that it over exceeded our expectations. The hotel was very clean & quiet. The washroom was the cleanest washroom I've ever seen in a hotel. Other than one night when a plow/tow truck kept going by in the night the street was very quiet & because there are so few rooms available in the hotel the inside was also quite quiet as well. We went to the Bistro for one lunch & one dinner during our trip, & both times the food was amazing. The ambiance inside the Bistro was also bustling & lively, which showed how popular it was with the locals. The hotel is walking distance to the Fine Arts Museum, the plains of Abraham, & the main road has a lot of restaurants & little shops to visit. It also only takes about 10-15 minutes by bus to get to Old Quebec. We had a very pleasant experience. The only thing I would suggest would be to add slippers in the bedrooms so it's easy to walk to & from the exterior washroom without shoes on, & maybe find a way to secure the showerhead more in the holder (we had some issues with it falling out). However these are minor things that didn't affect our overall wonderful experience. I will note that to get to the first & second floor of the hotel you need to go up stairs, so if stairs are difficult for you it might not be the best option.
We stayed 3 nights, with my wife, at the Hotel Krieghof. Its location, in a beautiful neighborhood, makes you feel like an inhabitant of Quebec, a 10 minute walk from the historic center. A place with a lot of life, but quiet & away from the big crowds.
The friendliness of the staff at the hotel & its restaurant, coupled with its location, make the perfect combination for a great stay in Quebec.
