Quebec! Where else in the world, when you come to breakfast at 10 am, can you hear the ENTIRE restaurant singing along to Joe Dassin's "& si tu n'existais pas"?! All visitors are absolutely sober - they sit in this cozy place, cheerfully eating pancakes & waffles. Despite there was clearly enough free spots, we were told that we had to sit at the bar, because we had no reservation. This is kind of strange, but we loved the place overall. The "creative" bathroom looks like a creepy night club with a bathtub in the middle, & thousands of graffiti all over the place, so one can hardly find a door knob (I saw a guest who was struggling with that). The crepes with trout, goat cheese & asparagus were good, & the staff is friendly & attentive.
Ok - I don't get it. This is Quebec City's biggest mystery. Multiple people from tour guides to servers recommended this to us. & it was....mid to alright. It's kind of like a Canadian Cracker Barrel with lots of cute sugar shack decor & a large dining space. But the food itself was totally forgettable - my friend had a bland omelette & she was pretty sure they forgot the cheese entirely it was so dry. I can't even remember what I had to be honest it was so average. We did go to L'Antiquaire Buffet the next day & were more satisfied - their menu is smaller but they do the breakfast classics much better than La Buche. If you're a foodie with limited time in QC - skip this, no matter how many people tell you otherwise.
We enjoyed their brunch so much, we went back a 2nd time on our trip! Would recommend making reservations for the weekend. First time we split the Assiette d'la Cabane (Sugar Shack Plate) - & good thing we split it! If you can't decide what to order, get this (& maybe an extra side of bacon, trust me). Second time we got a few sides to share, including a chocolate banana waffle which was decadent. Coffee is good, mimosas are good. Staff are friendly & food comes out quick. Go here for a great breakfast!

An amazing place for a delicious meal, the big all-in-one breakfast tray has everything you could ask for. The beans were so good, smoky & sweet, the candied bacon, the flavourful scrambled eggs, the crepe, everything was perfect. Highly recommended, & maybe make a reservation, we were lucky two days in a row, but it fills up fast after 830am.
This spot exudes cozy Quebecois charm with traditional eats & fantastic mimosas. The snug space adds to the old-world vibe, creating an intimate atmosphere. Quick, friendly service enhances the overall experience, making it a delightful breakfast spot for a taste of Quebecois comfort.
Had an amazing traditional Quebecois breakfast at La Buche. I got the big breakfast, & it was delicious. Every component on the plate was terrific. I really enjoyed the meats & the maple butter was simply divine! Also, I never had an empty coffee cup which was nice. They kept it coming. The ambiance was authentic & they played traditional Quebecois folk music. Friendly service topped off the experience. Highly recommend!
Fabulous & they get top marks for everything. & not surprisingly, it was packed to the brim. Service was excellent & the staff are very very friendly. Food was nice, fresh & tasty. My Crepe with Blueberries with Maple syrup was excellent. My partner's Breakfast Poutine looked great too. Atmosphere was great. I'll be very happy to go back.
